High SAT II score offset low SAT I section score?

You think?

Let's say, hypothetically (and by hypothetically, I mean not hypothetically at all because it's true) that I have a 790 CR, 770 WR, and a whopping 650 M. Would getting an 800 on Math II discount that low score when it comes to admissions?

it would seem odd to get an 800 on math II but only a 650 on sat

I think that it would definitely offset the low SAT Math score, but if you are good enough in math to get an 800 on the Math II, you should be able to re-take the SAT and get above a 650. A 650 really isn’t that bad though, especially if you’re not planning to enter a math-related field. Good Luck

Did no prep for SAT math/was a bad, bad day.

Here is the dilemma: I’ve already taken Latin and Literature SAT IIs, and I’m fairly certain that my scores are solid on those (770+). I’ve got October and November to take SATs (reasoning test or Math II) but, realistically, I don’t want to be taking standardized tests both months. If I had to, I would, but that’s far from ideal, as it would be better to focus on schoolwork.

So basically, the question is: which applicant’s test scores would look better/would either be inhibitory?

Applicant 1
SAT I: 790 CR, 700+ M, 770 WR
SAT II: 770+ Lit, 770+ Latin

or

Applicant 2
SAT I: 790 CR, 640 M, 770 WR
SAT II: 770+ Lit, 770+ Latin, 800 Math IIC

Would both pass the threshold at very selective schools?

Thanks so much for your response, btw

^^^LACs probably, univiersities want to to see three different fields (math, science, humanities)
