High School Class of 2013

Mr. Luggs,

If you are taking PreCal or higher next year, then you should definitely take it.

I’m going to be taking the PSAT in October, Japanese with Listening SAT II in November, SAT in January, and then 5 AP’s in May… in June, I’ll probably be taking some more SAT II’s. >_>

Does everyone here plan on going into prestigious ivy league schools?

@Loveispeac3-Ugh, I hate Math. I’m taking Int Math III, which is an accelerated combination of precalc and algebra II. I guess I’ll take Math II in June .Now I need to plan out when to take the actual SAT.

@phoenix- Honestly, I’m not sure. My teacher recommended that I take Molecular, though. And in my opinion, 700+ is great :)

@Jazzi- Well my top choices are Princeton, Dartmouth, UPenn and Williams :stuck_out_tongue: … I doubt it’ll stay the same though. I’m very fickle

Just thought I would tell you guys I passsed all my regentss, and I’m offically a junior!

^congrats! that’s great~

In my school the AP kids usually take 3/4 AP classes their junior year, I’ll be taking 6. However, no one except maybe 1 person per class actually passes the AP test lol…it’s sad. I took AP World so far and got a 790, really wanted an 800 :frowning: And yes, I would really like to attend a top school, looking at MIT, Stanford, and Princeton right now, but the chances are really slim. I guess I’ll get a better picture the summer before senior year, when I have all my SAT’s/SAT Subjects/AP Scores in front of me :P

I really want to skip Physics Honors and go to Physics C.

What are regentss and why is everyone freaking out about them?

I had the same question yesterday and I googled it lol. I think it’s a standardized test from New York or something.

regents are our state tests… We get one for each subject every year of H.S until junior year and with the exception of Global and English. So typically A HS student takes 9

If they are only for New York why are they such a national thing?! I saw a prep book for them by BARRONS down in OKLAHOMA!!! Here we have EOIs and we don’t get prep books or anything :(

Not at all. Because of my intended major, the only Ivy that would ever be on my radar would be Yale, and that would be for their GRADUATE degree in Acting - which is quite a ways away! I actually have a shortlist of schools that range from everything from your basic flagship state university to selective private schools - anything but a conservatory program! Yes, I am determined to combine a performance degree with a solid liberal arts background.

But my choice of schools doesn’t mean I won’t be fighting hard to keep up with all you Ivy-applying kids. I need the highest scores I can get on my SAT/ACT to qualify for merit aid as an int’l student! Otherwise…the US thing just isn’t gonna happen, haha.

Whoa too muchh! thats only for public schools cause I go to boarding school and we didnt do that. I know in Cali we have CAHSEE for all sophomores.

Regents really aren’t that big of a deal. They tend to be easier than what our teachers would have cooked up for our finals, so I’m happy to have them (except for english, grrrrr). People freak out about Regents just as much as they do their other finals.

Well to be honest regents are not needed, whats wrong with just a normal final’s like back in the day? But any ways there just a test the state makes for us to take for certain subjects. If we don’t pass the regent at the end of the year we have to take the class over again, even if we passed the class for the year. Other states use to have them but they got rid of them which was smart of them there expensive.

And to be honest there just a big stress for us. I had three this year and I hated them.

But thanks everyone, I’m just relieved. Now to start studying for the SATS.

Only one I am concerned for is earth science. All the studying for geometry paid off. I flew through it. btw i got a 90 on my english regents :D

I’m applying to Stanford, Yale, Harvard(Maybe).

I got a 65 on the earth science regents, I was happy for it. I could not take that class over again. I’m really bad at math so I had to take the two year algebra class. I’m greatful for it, it really helped.

You don’t have to repeat the class. You only have to retake the the test. My friend has failed geometry 4 times and is still advancing In her normal math classes
