High School Class of 2013

@iluvbooks94, eeeeesh?! How are IB’s? I don’t know, school just started and I’m only an AP student.

Lol my school offers no IB classes, only APs. I don’t think junior year is terrible; it’s the SATs that are bugging me. Speaking of which, I shall now go take a practice test -__-

When should I take the ACT/SAT? I think juniors taking it in like November are way too early. Which months are they offered in?

They’re offered in Oct, Nov, Dec, Jan, Mar, May, and June.

And you’re not the only one stressing out over timing. I can’t take my SATs until March, and I won’t be able to retake them (if i need to) until fall of 2012. i hate scheduling… :(

I have a question I’m a Regular student with regular status and taking these classes.

Temporary Instructional Placement - Due to my Due enrollment of baker aviation school.

Chemistry 1 (honnors was full again)

English 3 (honors was full so i had to take this) =(

Advanced Placement American History

Pre-Calculus honnors

Aviation General Maintenance Techni

Aviation General Maintenance Techni

Aviation General Maintenance Techni
I’M not an honor student or a genius like most of you, but I am a dual enrollment going to an aviation school in the morning and coming back to my regular school for my core classes math, science etc. would like to go to Embry Riddle university in Florida to study in aeronautical science to become a military fighter pilot. I Didn’t take no foreign language classes and that what I’m afraid of and also afraid of not passing the AP exam for American History. Plus I didn’t take ACt or SAT yet I need a good prep any chance I can get some type of …umm Words of advise?

Xfighter, aside from aviation and that my English class is Journalism, we have the same classes.

Hi I’m a junior and I’m really concerned that colleges won’t like my schedule
AP bio
APEconomics
AP eng lang
AP calc ab/bc
AP us history
Honors spainish 4
Newspaper 2

Yes, because 5 AP classes is something colleges don’t like… My school offers 3.

Really well am I going on the right path I mean I don’t want to get denied by any colleges…Really afraid right now…=( scared for my future…At least im a lil confident cause of you thanks.

@CSIHSIS that could actually be a blessing in disguise. Try to look on the bright side, because less are offered you well be expected to take less. It won’t look bad in any way because colleges will know that was all you were offered. And hey, that means less work right? :)

I was speaking to a college admissions counselor today, and she was telling me that schools will like to see how rigorous of a courseload you’ve taken… RELATIVE to what your school offers. For example, taking five AP academic courses and an honors language course at a school that has enough AP courses to allow you to fill your schedule with them looks just as impressive as taking all three APs offered to you plus the highest level courses offered to you in other areas as well in a school where only three AP courses are provided.

Additionally, she was reminding me that top-tier colleges like to see at least 5 core academic courses taken by a student each year. If you drop below that (if you, for instance, choose not to take a language or not to take a history class senior year), then that may display you as an applicant who does not academically self-guide yourself well. Keep this in mind.

At the same time, taking 200 AP courses isn’t going to be your best option as well. If you have 5, high-level core classes, it might be worth a venture to find another area of interest that you have a passion for and to take classes in there. For instance, I’ve done Student Council for the past three years and will continue that through senior year. Perhaps you’ve taken the newspaper classes all three years. So stick with those activities! It shows commitment and passion! And in many cases, colleges like to see that you have an activity like Student Council or Newspaper that you are passionate about because those activities display a well-rounded student who is not only a scholar but a leader or a journalist (or whatever else one may be) as well. Keep this in mind. Students with all APs who get good grades in there 200 AP courses yet who have no extracurriculars that they are committed to will not be viewed as favorably in the top colleges’ eyes, no matter how much you think AP classes are everything.

Not even a week of school has passed and my sleeping schedule is already completely messed up. Haha.

Well, AP Bio is going pretty good; got a 100 on the first chapter quiz. (:

I’m starting to study for the ML1 and spanish tests in November, but my books haven’t gotten here yet! I have the Barron’s ML1, but I absolutely HATE it. >.<

When’s everyone taking the ACT/SAT? I’m thinking of taking it in December, and if I need to retake it, I have April and June. (Plus the beginning of senior year)

When is everyone else taking all this ‘fun’ stuff?

How’s the stressful junior year going?

EC’s started yet? (I have band practice every Tues, Wed and Thursday for 2 hours. >.< And science club started too. Today was our first meeting so I got to miss an hour of band (:)

SAT: November
SAT2s: December
Anything I need to retake: January
I managed to fail Calc before the second class (50% on a take home quiz, I wasn’t the only one). So far, I like all of my teachers but my German one.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have an essay to write.

I’m taking the ACT for the first time in October. I can’t take the SAT before December since the Octobor registration date past and I have a holiday on the November date… Might take SAT 2 Lit. in January and Physics and Math 2 in June.

do you guys know if colleges mind if you take too many SAT 2’s? If I have four, it won’t hurt me right?

I’m retaking the ACT sometime next spring. I already have a 33, but since my reading score was so disproportionate to my composite, I might as well… Unfortunately.

You guys are busy planning for your standardized tests, I’m going crazy for a new 8 minute The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo trailer.

I’ll probably take the PSAT in October (obviously). Then I’m aiming for taking the SAT in January, retaking it if I have to in the spring and then if I have to again next fall. I’ll take 3 SAT II tests in June. As for the ACTs, I need to see where they’ll fit in.

I signed up for the SAT Biology test in may, but now I’m wondering if I should’ve left it for June instead… =/

Then again, in June I’m taking ML2, Physics and USH, so nevermind that one. >.< Maybe I should switch to the SAT Literature one in May… O.e

Junior swag :)

Hey guys, I’m not new here - I posted around april may and june for a while but took a summer haitus to get my mind off school, but i’m back! How is everyone :)
