High School Class of 2013

I’m not doing any summer programs; I already did alzheimer’s research last year. i hope that’ll suffice.
i just need to boost my gpa over the summer. lifeguarding and college classes sound great.

Summer programs? Pah…I’m thinking of taking an EMT class nearby and then just volunteer in the local area. It should be fun…and much cheaper :)

Plus I already have a job, so I think my summer should be just fine.

Well I was going to apply for these science camps at my state college but they might get cut because of funding issues :/

I am doing my CAS project and getting my volunteering hours done. Then take a FLVS course? (Not sure) and enjoy my last summer break of high school.

I’m applying for summer programs and scholarships. But if I don’t get full tuition+living, I’m just going to do research and take classes @ a local university that’s affliated with my HS. I’m going to read a lot about Oncology and Anthrop/Social Studies too  Yay summer :D

I’m probably gonna do scientific research at my local college or take college classes depending on whether my rents have the time since i have to commute for both

Hey guys! I just joined CC, and I’m also a junior. Did anyone get SAT scores back yet? I took them in December for the first time and got a 2360 (800 M, 800 W, 760 CR).

I’m so happy I found this thread :)

What are all of your plans after high school?

Oh and guess what? We graduate next year!

@abbylee college, what else?

I mean majors and such, clearly college.

Either Econ or business, top choice being Penn followed by Mich and Virginia, then others. How about yourself?

I’m thinking University of Pittsburgh or Duquesne. I really want to go to school in the city of Pittsburgh. I’m thinking law, probably paralegal to get myself started and probably minoring in either spanish or math.

With all of you applying to summer programs, how are you asking for teacher recs? I feel a little weird asking for like 8 because a lot of the internships have different ones…

I’m a North Carolina student looking into political science or government and I am looking at:

Reach:
Northwestern
Duke

Match:
Wake Forest
Claremont McKenna (? or Reach)
Georgetown (? or Reach)

Safety:
UNC-CH
Howard

I plan on majoring in chemistry. I’ve wanted to go to MIT for the longest time, but my chances aren’t going to be that great. Scores and grades are just too low.

Extreme Reach:
MIT
Harvard

Reach:
Darmouth
UPenn
UChicago

Low Reach:
Boston College
Cornell

Match:
Northeastern
Binghamton

Safety:
Siena
UAlbany

That’s what I’m thinking right now…

btw, what summer programs are you guys applying to?

I totally missed the deadline for one of them… Oops. o.O

Wow I haven’t been here in a while!

I’m planning to go into Occupational Therapy. I went from Medicine, to Physical Therapy, and now finally my decision rests on Occupational Therapy. Right now I’m trying to compile a list of schools with a BS/MS program for Occupational Therapy.

Reach: Boston Univeristy ( also my possible #1 choice. #1 in Occupational Therapy and 97-100% pass rate)

The rest of the colleges I’m not sure whether they’re matches or safeties because I have yet to take the SAT ( Janurary… please pray for me… ), but here are some of them:

Ithaca College, University of Scranton, Quinnipiac, Seton Hall, Duquesne.

As for summer programs I’m not sure yet. I’m planning to possibly observe an Occupational or physical therapist and/or volunteer if possible.

Hey guys!

I’m with ShadowFay555, I haven’t taken the SAT yet so I’m nervous. I’m taking it in March. But I have taken practice tests, and I think I’ll be fine!

Here are the schools I’m looking at:

Reach:
Vanderbilt (absolute first choice, I’m applying ED next year)
UNC-CH
UVa
Notre Dame
Northwestern

Match:
Wake Forest
UW-Madison
UIUC

Safety:
Elon
Ohio State (super safety ftw! Go Bucks!)

I definitely need more safeties, I gotta look for them.

Here’s what I’m doing over the summer:

 • volunteering at my camp for a month as a server or dishwasher
 • volunteering with kids with terminal illnesses & their families for a month
 • running a special needs dance troupe

I’m not doing any summer programs, but I don’t think I would like them. I’m really excited for my summer :)

Okay soo can you guys tell me what you think about this?

Basically, next summer me and my best friend got this idea to bike from Canada to Mexico (over like 6 weeks), and to get people to sponsor us to raise money for a charity.

However, I do want to go into science so idk if this would look bad compared to all you guys with lab internships. By the way, the charity we want to raise money for is for education in Thailand (I went there last summer and did research and I’m really passionate about bringing help back to them)

I really want to do this and part of me is just like screw college and just do it, but I’ve worked so hard for this and I dont want to ruin my chances or anything.

None of my friends know anything about college admissoons so im asking here. What do you guys think?

I want to major in Chemistry, just because I’m really good at it, and because there really isn’t a “pre-med” major. I’ll minor in either General Music or Music Composition, whichever one is available.

Extreme Reaches:
Yale (I’m applying SCEA… though… to be honest, chances are close to 0% :p)
Stanford

Matches:
UBC (in Canada)
University of Washington
UC Berkeley

Safeties:
University of Oklahoma

For this summer, it really depends. I’m applying to MITES (Asian ftw :o) and Telluride. If I don’t get in to either, I get to volunteer, take Calculus and travel a bunch :).

I though about MITES, but I’m very white soo…yeah. I’m gonna throw like 6 lab applications out there, who knows. I think I might just go with this bike thing though. It’s summer I want to do something fun and it’s something that I really care about. I’m still kind of unsure though ahhh.
