High School Class of 2015

wait…are you guys even in highschool yet?!

^ No we’re not.

You guys should read some of Christie’s stand alone novels, like A Murder in Baghdad and Crooked House - They aren’t part of Poirot or Marple, but they’re still really, really good. Some even better.

Her collection of short stories - The Hound of Death is pretty good too.

Algebra 2,

Hey, I’m not class of 2015 I’m class of 2013 but some thing I wish people would have told me is know your classes and feel comfortable being able to talk to you teacher and if not comfortable going to them find another tea her in the school that will help you. There was a comment on the first page about geometry and then taking algebra 2 sophomore year. Are you in honors. Did you already take algebra 1? Geometry requires a lot of time, patience and concentration unless you are already amazing at math. I would rather be in a regular math class and move a little bit slower just so I know that I am fully understanding the topics. Other things that are important for high school are extra-circular activities. Colleges and universities look at what you’ve done done to be a productive member of you school, however joining something that you have no interest in would be a complete waste of time. In new York it is required to have 10 hours of community service so get involved in volunteer work to.

Now aside from academics social life in high school is something you need to be prepared for. Yes you will meet many nice, unique people who may become your lifelong friends but you will also meet people who hate you for no reason. You need to learn how to separate yourself from negative people and not go looking for trouble- if someone is talking trash let them talk it don’t go looking for a problem that really isn’t a problem. Fond friends that will be a positive influence on you. When your older influence isn’t so much but when your coming into a new school with new people it’s easy to be swayed into doing things that you don’t want to. For example my freshman year I had 3 friends that were older then me and everyone was like perfect. However this year I am friends with kids who smoke, drink etc and now I know that I can be friends with them no problem because I am sure of myself- I think if it was last year I might’ve tried some things.
My number 1 piece of advice would be to stay away from drama as much as possible, it’s all around you and if you get involved at some point or another it will come back to bite you in the butt trust me.
But most importantly high school flies by, make the best of it because before you know it, it’ll be gone. I was having a heart attack the other day because I realized that in a little leas then 2 years I would be leaving home.
This is crunch time, enjoy yourself and make the right decisions and the rest will come to you.

I wouldn’t take chemistry this year because it requires many skills that you need to learn first and if you take it now some of the vital skills you will need won’t be here.

Jazzii, Thank you for your comments and advice. I like many things you said.

right on! I need to keep that in mind. actually drama already started in middle school, woo hoo loo roo goo noo :D

^ Tell me about drama. Sucks. :(

Next week is our last week of school, I’m so excited! Our teacher just locked our grades in last Friday, and our promotion is on May 20th (next friday). When are you guys promoting?

we promoted on thursday in chapel. It was kind of boring

I have another four weeks of school. I just want Summer to come!

Yeah i know drama starts in Middle school but in high school there is drama times 100… lol

did anyone take the national French exam?If so what you get for national ranking?

I’ve never heard of national french exam. wow it sounds interesting. can you tell me more? do they have a website or something?

well at my school it’s required and you take this all Scranton exam and its really hard and they take like a month to grade it. I think they have it for Spanish too. And it’s very hard to get an award, I placed 12th nationally and I only got a participant award. If they have a website, it wold be a French one.

Lol, you guys want summer break to come? I have to wait till July for it to come! You guys have it so easy with school over in June. Not to worry, though, next year summer vacation starts June 14th or something.

Yeah Preppy you’re the British dude, right? lol

@golf, the french test sounds cool but hard and challenging. I’m doing French I. so probably it’s not a good idea to try that. I really like French though. maybe some day I’ll try. Which textbook do you use for French?

@ I took the National Spanish Exam! I took it both this year and last year in 7th grade. My K-8 school does both the NSE and the NFE. Last year I got a medal for scoring in the 96th percentile. My french speaking classmates are always mad because the people who rank high enough on the NSE get waaaay better prizes than they do!

@shmluza, we use the McDougal Little, Discovering French Nouveau 1b bleu deuxieme partie.
@deerbri, what did you place nationally? I took NFE last year too. Didn’t the NSE have questions about Lada Gaga on it? that’s what my friends told me. lol the French one is so old it talks about radio cassettes. haha

Is there a National German Test
?

Nothing like that in the USA that I know of.
