I came here specifically for test scores and subject test help.

I came here for the Harvard section

^Now that’s a bit pretentious, unless you’re joking.

Then again, so is using the word pretentious!

I’m not joking

Then it is a little weird. Why would you come for the Harvard section? Why wouldn’t you just ask your parents?

What has everyone been doing over the summer?

Nothing!! YAY!! Well, besides Marching Band.

German camp. Rowing. Reading.

@pittsburgher, what seat do you row in?

it depends. I’ve been sculling a lot lately. My seat position changes, but I am normally a port rower.

Ya I’m port too and I’m usually stroke. I like sweep better than sculling, but sculling can be fun too

@Hopefor, what is your marching band schedule in the summer and school year? is it a lot? My band has tons. but I’ve heard others are even more packed.

Hey some of you guys may feel lucky there are great colleges like HPY near by you. I, on the other hand, am happy all the colleges I want to go are kind of far, at least 6 hours away from home. I want to be away from home when I’m in college and work. My parents all went long ways and they say it’s good for you. At least I agree with them on that one.

My band takes up most of my time. During summer we have bi-weekly practices to learn our music. In July we have a couple practices and two weeks of band camp to make to perfection.During school we have a daily band and once or twice a week ,we have after school practice which, lasts around 2 hours includeing the daily band practice.
I had a major knee injury and can’t march. So, I don’t need to go as much. Our theme is Latin. rolls eyes All of my favorite colleges are 6 hours away… by plane.

omg hopefor, compared to yours, my band is nothing. I don’t really have anything in July. It all starts the second week in August, four days a week for two weeks, then a couple times a week for the rest of the summer. During the school year we practice and do the games. I look forward to march.

Do you all know what takes to be a drum major in a marching band? I dream to become one some time.

Well, I was the first marching 8th grader last year. We send 12 kids to All-State East, and like 3 to All State. We work on marching the most. What is your field show?

I did MB last year. I quit because the director was moving, and the new director wanted to really push us. I wasn’t a great marcher, so I quit.
For a drum major, in my band, you had to conduct a class.

We do football games. Our band will also go to NY city for 9/11 memorial this year but I don’t think I can go. we don’t do competitions. Our band teacher is awesome. I didn’t do marching band in middle school - there wasn’t any. So this will be my first experience marching.

@politicalProtege, what do you mean you were not a great marcher? everyone is, imo. which instrument do you play? I play the clarinet in MB.

@hopefor, what do you do in band camp? just wondering. For me it’s 4 full days/week, from 8am to 5pm. What do we do? do we march? Play the instruments? My lips or legs will die! I can’t imagine.

First, we march it.Then, we play it with marking time.Next, we march and play it. My feet were sore. My lips were killing me because, they gave us flutes the frekin highest notes possible and I died.
