@shmulza! Totally. I have been a middle school lurker for quite a while now. So it’s nice to a to see a thread about us ready-for-highschool-slightlyoveracheiving-trying-to-prepare 8th graders! Class of 2015 FTW!! But legitly, nice idea for a thread!

@PoliticalProtege. I’vee been lovin your posts! I think its awesome how well rounded you are! I know you had posted this a couple pages ago, but our school is allowing FReshman to take an AP class for the first time! It’s APHuG!

As for summer programs, I am taking part in Vanderbilt Summer Academy for two weeks. I took part in the CTY talent search and stuff and qualified for some programs, but I ended up not doing any of the summer programs. I think I’ll travelng some this summer, volunteering, and taking place in the Freshman Transition Academy thing at our school

@The Nerd
Thanks! Indian classical dance is pretty cool, according to my female friends lol. I know very few guys who do it lol.
I also love MUN, Forensics, Mock Trial, and I plan on doing them.
This sounds hilarious, but what colleges do you guys care for? lol, see how weird that sounded?

The Yale video is freakishly awesome. Enough said. I hope to apply to some of those colleges you mentioned.

Are you talking about the “Thats Why I chose Yale” song vid. I swear that video is freakin amazing! Do you have any dream schools?

^Not really. I’m more focused on high school than college lol. But Yale could be one.

Harvard all the way for me because both my parents went there and my grandpa went there too. Have you guys seen the the Harvard parody of the why I chose Yale video? it was hilarious

@political oh same here. but i’ve just thought about it randomly
@golfcrew wow! Some serious legacy there! No, but i shall watch it!

I’ve seen it. It’s hilarious. I may apply to Harvard.
I’m still waiting for a junior/senior to reprimand us and call us prestige whores.
The Nerd, have you done MUN before? I love it.

ya but legacy doesn’t help as much as it used to. my sister who goes to UPenn (class of 2013) had good grades a 2250 SAT the triple legacy thing and 1 rec letter from a pretty important alum who was on the football team and same finals club whith my gandpa and 1 from a guy who is a pretty large benefactor to Harvard and she only got waitlisted

I hate all freshman, :)

I’m glad legacy doesn’t matter as much. It’s unfair to people like me lol.

Ya I guess legacy is unfair but there are a lot of unfair things like AA and recruited athletes so it all kind of balances out

Well, recruited athletes is something you can control. AA, being poor/disadvantaged or rich/legacy, are all advantages you cannot control.

Which states are you from? Everyone.

you can control being an athlete to some extent because some people have more talent, are built perfectly for a sport, etc. Also some people just aren’t athletic no matter how hard they work at a certain sport, they can never be the best.

Yeah, but it’s like music then.

well I don’t really know much about music since I come from a very sporty family but I’ll take your word for it. Do you all go to public or private?

I go to a pretty competitive public.

I go to a private that everyone says is super hard but in my opinion its pretty easy and the classes are about one hundred and we send like 4 to Harvard every but like none to Yale its weird

Yale is awkwardly selective, apparently.
One hundred per grade? 700 per grade here.
