Every freshman takes the PSAT at my school. My county adds 7 honors points to honors classes on our report card.

My school only adds on 5! but it still does make a huge difference.

To be honest it seems like it’d make a huge difference

Yeahh. At my school it isn’t included in the un-weighted average

Oh okay i get what you’re saying now
If it was it’d have a pretty big impact though (like on unweighted class ranks)

My school doesn’t weigh honors classes any differently than college prep, sadly. My midterm and Psat were average… but I have a lot more studying to do. Do any of you guys have a 4.0 right now?

I have a 4.0, my gifted stuff wasn’t weighted either.
But my PSAT was also average-ish (170)

I have a 4.0 surprisingly. With my 7 points for being in an honors class, I had a 97 average after the first semester. Not trying to be like one of those nerds who brags for compliments though.

ugh, if you consider unweighted then no. 4.2 GPA weighted. my school only reports to us our weighted GPAs though. I probably have the highest in my class for freshmen. My school is notorious for grade deflation.

'nyways, my friend (sophomore) and I are starting a new club, Academic decathlon, for next year. We just got a bunch of signatures, over 40 (my school is really small). We’re also trying to look for a club monitor and actually get our club approved first, lol. If anyone is in Academic decathlon, I have a bunch of questions so please pm me, thanks!! :D

In the process for choosing classes for next year:
I’m going to try to skip pre-calc and go straight to AP Calculus sophomore year by self-studying the pre-calc book.
I’m only taking one AP next year if I don’t get into Calc: AP Bio. This year the science department has a new track, and 4 of the freshmen who got good scores on their entrance exam were taking this track and 2 of them dropped out. Basically it guarantees you to be in the top 1% of your class granted you get all As in other subjects, since you get to take more AP science classes.

Oh dang. That sounds very tough and competitive. If you go to a really small school then I’d imagine that it’d be very hard to be in the top 1% in your class. Nice. :)

I feel like I’ve done nothing good, lol , but at my high school, oppurtunities like the ones I read about are just not availible to us :/. It does kinda suck, but you always got to make the best with you got and push to the top!

My school only weights AP classes, so I have a 4.0 unweighted, but so does, like 50 other people (in a class of 160).

I attend a public school. Meaning half of the kids in the class of 2016, don’t care about school that much. In on-level classes, you hear phrases like: F*** this s**t. Therefore, the amount if kids Im competing with has been cut in half automatically.

I have a 4.0 unweighted, we don’t get our weighted averages until the end of the year
we just had class selection for next year and I’m taking 3 APs, so I think it’s going to be a tough year!

3 APs as a sophomore? Which ones?

My school doesn’t offer any for freshmen so I wanted to compensate
only 1 out of the 3 I’m taking is “officially” offered to sophmores but I talked to my guidance counselor and he recommended me
but anyways they are:
AP Euro
AP Stat
AP Comp Sci
and I’m self studying AP human geography

Dang girl (or boy)! I’m only going to be taking APUSH and maybe AP chem. All of my classmates are expecting me to take a ton of APs next year, yet I’m just taking the normal amount for a sophomore. Some of my classmates that are not so ‘smart’ are taking 3 APs.

Yeah I’m taking AP Economics next year and I can’t wait!

Lucky we get to choose are schedule till the end of the year once we get are AP scores back (hopes for a 5) and then we get to choose. I already know what I’m taking next year 5 hopefully.
AP Euro
AP Language arts(if we take euro we have to take lang vise versa)
AP World
AP Enviromental
AP Chemistry
My school offers 23 APs so I’m trying to take advantage. But yea it’s going to be crazy next year

Here’s my schedule. Core classes are the most rigorous my school offers for sophomores.

AP World
AP Bio
Honors English
Honors Pre-Calc
French III
And intro to Drafting (I want to be an engineer… I think) or some other elective
