I’ll be setting up a Cystic Fibrosis Center with a pediatric pulmonologist at a nearby hospital and working in the Oncology department of another hospital. I’ll also have a Center for Talented Youth Flexi-Paced Class on Honors Physics to prep me for AP Physics B in the fall.

BTW, here’s my schedule, I’d be ecstatic if anyone could look it over:

Honors English 10
AP European History/Pre-AP US History
Honors Pre-Calculus
Honors Chemistry
AP Calculus AB/BC
Spanish III
Gym
AP Physics B
AP Psychology [Special Gifted Online Program]
AP US Government [Special Gifted Online Program]

Notes:
I go to a public high school in a large city/town [IMO of course, about 125,000 people] with roughly 11 AP classes
The AP Euro thing is half year because we covered some of it this year.
Also, only the best seniors get AP Physics B [Our highest Physics class] and AP Calc AB/BC.

So my dilema is that should I take AP Calc and Pre-Calc concurrently? I realize it might be hard, but apparently many people go from Algebra 2 to AP Calc and I really want to be the first sophomore in AP Calc

Dang, how do you have so many classes? Even without the online, that’s 8 right there. I don’t really understand how you could take pre calc and calc concurrently. Like, wouldn’t it be too hard in calc? And if it’s not too hard, then what would be the point of taking pre calc? I’m just curious.

Wow you have some really hard classes. I heard BC wasn’t too bad. But still AP Calc as a sophomore is amazing. Well I know like only 2 people that do it. My schedule is semi similar. I have every of your classes except my Chemistry is AP and I’m not taking AP Physics or Calculus. I’m taking Pre-Calc though. Not doing any home AP’s.

Go ahead and do AP Calc if you want to be special. If you feel you can do good go ahead. You might need to take it since you’re taking AP Physics. You haven’t taken Pre Cal yet so you might need it.

Over the summer I’m volunteering In Canada, volunteering at my local hospital (Emory), and babysitting. My schedule: Honors Chemistry, AP Biology, Accelerated Geometry, Honors 10th grade Lit, Honors Spanish 2, and AP World History. Any opinions? Too much?

@Swinter:
My school requires you have 8 classes a year where we have 2 sets, an A Day and a B Day where you have 4 of the 8 classes. Also, I need to take Pre-Calc to fulfill the graduation requirement of 4 years of math [I have already taken Geometry and Algebra 2 together]

@Halibo:
Thanks, helpful stuff!! Also, your schedule looks nice! Good luck next year!

@Highschooler:
Most sophomores at the high-end [where you are/who you are up against] will take Algebra 2 as a sophomore. I recommend you take Geometry over the summer or take both classes concurrently. I did the 2nd option and it was very easy. Other then that, your schedule looks very good. Good luck in AP Bio though, that is said to be a very hard exam. You should check out 5 Steps to a 5 and Barron’s on AP Bio since they might have some helpful information

I would take Algebra 2 but I do not think my school offers it for my specific level. I am not on a high level it’s just that after Geometry I move to precalc for Junior year. The order is weird.

Alg II is very easy. I am in it and geometry this year. I’m sure that Precalculus will be pretty much the same with a little bit more. Hopefully it won’t be too boring next year :/

In my case, we were not allowed to take summer classes. We just tested out of pre-algebra in 6th grade (already tested to get to pre-algebra). So Algebra 1 in 6th, Geometry 7th, Algebra 2 8th. Precal 9th.

… Pre-algebra in 6th grade? You must have gone to a super advanced school! That’s great! So are you in class with a whole bunch of juniors? Hahaha

For me, Alg 1 in 7th, Geometry in 8th, and now I doubled, taking Alg 2 and Pre Cal.
I’m the youngest in my class by 2 years
And I have the highest grade but only on CC would I brag like that…there are people in AP Calc and other advanced crap in freshman year on CC, but not in my school.

I am just taking geometry and algebra 2 this year. I kinda wish I would have worried more about school earlier on but it’s whatever. Just do good in your classes. There’s no need to take such advanced classes so quickly because the SAT only goes up to algebra 2 level

Yeah they put me in Pre-Algebra in 6th, it’s not impossible, most of my friends who took the regular math could do my homework. Sadly their CST (California Standardized Testing) scores weren’t really high. Some had a school K-6 so they had no choice but taking 6th grade math.

Put in algebra 1 in 6th completely neglecting my self-purported inability to do math (I was good on MAP testing). Thus I’m taking Pre-Calc right now. Honestly, I wish to do absolutely nothing related to math when I grow up, so this class really only serves its purpose to give me a nice GPA bump (It’s honors when all other math classes below are regular). It’s actually kind of funny to see all these A-obsessed, CC typw people in that class contrasted with me who somehow understands the concepts when no one else does and the love able cases if senioritis-stricken persons hahaha.

-------------------------------------------If it is to be, it is up to me…

Our standardized test is for sophomores only. But it’s a joke. The questions are like “What is 5^2?” and “What is the probability of spinning a coin twice and landing on heads twice in a row?”
