How are my classes for Freshman year???

I' am entering 9th grade this year. My classes are
Geometry
Spanish II
Advanced English
PE 9
Biology
Photography (Elective)
Are you elective very important?
How does it look? Please give your opinion, thanks.

Get off this site and don’t come back until mid way through sophomore year. There’s my advice.

Please give serious responses

are any other honors/advanced classes available?

you’re ahead in math and foreign language, which is good. :]

It is serious.

Basic advice: Take as many honors/advanced as you feel good taking. And do things you care about. Find good teachers. My thought is a good teacher and a crappy subject > decent/horrible/bad teacher and an amazing subject. Don’t worry about college until mid way through sophomore (at the earliest), and don’t come back to this site until then. No need to have the extra stress. Do your best, and you’ll be set.

To Rachel,
No they don’t offer anymore honor classes, except Alg. 2 Trig, which im not in. Is advanced english considered honors?

bump…

bump…

Don’t listen to mlatin’s advice on staying away.
Even though many people feel that way on this site.

Here is some real advice.
Your math is terrible, you should be 2-3 levels higher than that.

Don’t take BS electives like photography.

Do everything you can to make sure you have a nearly all AP schedule next year.

Self study at least 3 APs this year, in order to get experience/expose yourself.

how do i self study?

and 2-3 levels higher would be pre calc or calculas bc. ***…

^ God, you are a freshman.

arya24 - It seems like scaredapplicant is just trying to ■■■■■ (his join date is in July…and he has no posts). So, I’ll try and help.

I’ll admit: it’s a bit low by CC standards. But regardless, you’re ahead of the curve. Try to take Algebra II over the summer (between Freshman and Sophomore year) to catch up with the typical top school applicant.

Good. Just keep the Spanish going.

If this is the equivalent of Honors English, good. If not, then try and get into the Honors English class. Colleges want you to be taking the most challenging courseload that is offered.

I’m guessing a graduation requirement.

Since there’s no honors offered, I guess you’re fine.

If you’re going to take an elective, make sure it’s something you like and have it all four years. In this case, make sure you like Photography and take it all four years of high school.

They shouldn’t be random, like one year you take Ceramics I, then another Photography I, then another Drawing and Painting I…as long as you keep what you have going, I’d say whatever elective is fine (you know…except for like, PE 1, PE 2, PE 3, etc. or non-academic electives). I guess with Photography, since it’s not something you can end up demonstrating skill at with a competition or AP exam, you could submit a portfolio once you get to college applications, but for now, just enjoy the class.

ansar, how would i take alg 2 trig in the summer?

^ take it online. take it during summer school.
you have lots of alternatives. :]

how can i do that though. do i take it online and show my school? whats a good site online?

Just talk to your school’s councelor when school gets back in. They will [normally] know what’s offered. Google is also good.

Google
Google
Google

[BYU Independent Study - Distance Education Courses - Online Learning](http://ce.byu.edu/is/site/courses/select.cfm?type=hs&subject=75#to_course)

It’s very cheap.
Algebra II is a breeze.
You can finish both A and B in a month.
Then you can go and do Pre-Calculus.

^ talk to your counselor. for my state, there’s flvs, for your state, i have no idea.

in our school, alg 2 is mixed with trigonometry, doesn that mean i have to take trig to?

im in california
