<p>Mhmm, I’m not sure where they increase the other stuff though. We have no 1/2 days or fall breaks. Our only other breaks are Thanksgiving/Christmas/Spring and MLKJ I think. I’m not sure where they get the extra days though</p>
<p>Do you have teacher inservice days? That’s where like ten of our days come from.</p>
<p>I don’t think we have those anymore. Occasionally something will happen where all of the teachers that teach “x” subject will be out, and it’ll stagger throughout the year. But the school remains open</p>

<p>Been rather inactive here too, had a few large projects due the past week. Half my class didn’t sleep at all two consecutive days, and the teachers ask why we look so tired lol</p>
<p>^^ You guys should be lucky you get a long Summer break! Where I come from we have something like 4 weeks off in the Summer. (But actually we sorta go back to school every other day in the Summer). Winter break is slightly longer, but still it’s only 5/6 weeks depending on the school. We have like 196 school days a year, even after all the random public holidays are accounted for.</p>

<p>Am I the only one that cringes when people start talking about “I’m a Shoe-In for Princeton” or “I REALLY Wanna go to Yale”? I just get this weird tightening up when I hear that. It’s not that I have something against the schools. But the whole atmosphere is kinda elitist. And then people burn themselves out all high-school so they can go “Ivy or Bust” and when they don’t get in, they feel upset. Idk that’s just my random opinion on it. It’s nice if you get in (to know your work paid off etc.), but i just know it wouldn’t be the right fit for me, so I doubt I’d even give applying a second thought</p>

<p>During my 8th grade year I had 7 snow days. Gah, that was 7 days to make up in the blazing weather towards the end of June.
For my school district, these are the breaks given throughout the year (excluding day offs for holidays): Thanksgiving, Christmas/New year, mid-winter February, and April spring break.</p>
<p>Oh, and in response to your rant Atlantic, that’s what the sophomores are sorta doing in the 2015 thread right now haha.</p>
<p>Although I must say, I reaaaaallllyyyy want to go to Stanford, but I shouldn’t become so obsessed with the school that I end up ruined-for-life if I don’t get in when applying. Hmm, Stanford isn’t so much my favorite school anymore aha. We’ll see in years to come.</p>

<p>My mom has been emphasizing for many years that she wants me to go to the Ivy League. The other day, I told her that I would apply to a local college 'cause the campus was really pretty (not really), but then my mom said that Harvard, Yale and Princeton all have very pretty campuses.</p>
<p>What time do your schools start? Mine’s starts soooooo early and I hate it. We start at 7:30 and end at 2:30. I really don’t get why we start so early since a neighboring district starts an hour later.</p>

<p>EveningSwan, my school opens at either 6:30 or 7ish (well the school library is opened around that time, so that’s why), I have to be in advisory by 7:55, classes start at 8:15 (more like 8:25, everyone taking 10 min to get to each class), and school ends at 2:30.</p>
