The only justification I see to graduating College early is for financial reasons. Otherwise it seems as if you’re trying too hard to grow up, when you may not be mature enough yet

^My thoughts exactly. Money is nice, no doubt about that, but money isn’t everything in this life. (At least not for some, but there are people who are obsessed with it…) Money doesn’t define success, or happiness, or everything that we want to be in life.

Ok I want to make something straight, I don’t care about money. I haven’t for a very long time, I’m not one of those people whose lives is around money. The reason I want to be an engineer is because I want to make a difference in our tech, our world and our futures. 2 more years of that is what I want, 2 more years to create and innovate. 2 more years of being like god, making something out of nothing. and on terms of not making memories, pure ********. I’ll have memories, they will just be different from everyone else’s. If you love what you want to do, don’t you want to get out there and actually do it, have memories of something you love, not just you listening to a lecture.

Think about this, I know one day I’ll be one of those great innovators that defined our world, right there next to Zuck, Jobs, Gates, Edison…don’t doubt me…but that’s not my point, imagine how the world would be different if instead of getting out there and doing things they were cooped up in a dorm.

I don’t think it’s that big of a deal… if that’s what imscared6 wants to do then okay. It’s not like he’s trying to do something that’ll get himself in serious trouble .

^^ Well you do that then…

how did the convo even get here?

“2 more years of being like god, making something out of nothing.”

From what I’ve experienced of the engineers at a local chemical plant where I have a mentorship, a lot of their work is centered around politics, paperwork, routine repairs, and drinking approximately ten gallons of coffee every day. Of course there are many branches of engineering and probably better job opportunities in larger cities, but I don’t really think most engineers do glamorous work most of the time.

What about Mark Zuckerberg? Wasn’t he cooped up in a dorm when he created Facebook? Sure, it’s not a particularly useful invention, but our world has evolved around it, just like the inventions of Jobs, Bell, etc.

Oh, and when you mentioned the 70k salary, it sounded like you were graduating early for the money, IMO.

It depends on the branch, some engineering fields are boring, some aren’t, you really can’t just say “engineering” because it varies so much.

Btw I got that line out of how I met your mother (Girls love architects, you make something out of nothing, you’re like god, and there is no one hotter than god) and made it fit my needs

EveningSwan, he may have been a poorly chosen example. But he didn’t stay the full four years, same wiTh Gates. Jobs wasn’t in college when he created Apple, he dropped out after a semester.

And yeah, on retrospect the 70k line may have sounded wrong.

Also, being the younger one in college isn’t the best idea. The upperclassmen still won’t like us as freshman. The fact that you would be a sixteen year-old/seventeen year old doesn’t help.

So back to the class of 2016 or 15 what is the thing you Love about high school and what do you hate.

Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using CC

I love the extra freedom and I hate the extra work. Being a freshman is the worst at my school. We get no respect.

^Same at my school. I love high school but the teachers and upperclassmen treat us like dirt.
My midterm week is this week by the way!

My school is pretty chill. Nobody really cares if you’re a freshman, they don’t really pay attention. The worst that could happen is if you do something stupid the upperclassmen will grumble “Freshman…”

If people ask me if I am a freshman, My answer: nope, Im a sophmore

Yay, Its good to know im not the only other Freshy here lol

Uggghhhh, being a freshman at my school is the WORST! Everbody is treated like sh**, and also, for me personally, I went to a school were I have nobody from my Jr. High classes in…It really suck But Im making new friends and hopefully (im praying) that next year things will be more chill >.<

HighSchool2016, although no one cares at my school, I was wondering if people did that elsewhere. “Stupid freshman,” … “I’m a sophomore…”
