National honor society give you a minor boost. Unless you do something for that, it’s pretty pointless. (Although you may get something for your graduation.)

And to other viewing this thread. Many of the freshmen here are college obsessed. We will see more casual and relaxed people in about 2 years.

@oboe those clubs are so generic. Lots of people do them.

Maybe if you held a leadership position it would mean something, but other than that I don’t think they hold much weight!

Freshmen thread, yet most people on here are not freshmen…including myself.

@College123College

I sort of want to go to Wash U just because it’s really close, and also has a good premed program. Currently wanting to major in biology, but who knows after 4 years.

Do you guys do dryland as a team? We do yoga on thursdays, strength on mon/wed/fri, and cardio/running on Tues/Sat/Sun

@Sgt No! My team seems like garbage compared to yours. I literally have to do most things myself. We RARELY do dryland as a team.

We’re a pretty small team-there’s only about 15 in the senior group, which I swim in- so I guess that helps. Yoga is surprisingly difficult! We follow a video on an old tv that barely has any volume too.

I feel as if I’ve ruined my swim career thus far. Hopefully turning that around in the next 4 years. Might be swimming unlisted from now onwards and just doing my own thing.

Are you gonna be keeping your current routine during Winter @_@

Also you said you were close to sectional times, are those the USA motivational times? Like AAAA?

Yeah, but they are regional and qualify you for the sectional meet. Kinda like JO times, but without age groups. Where I live, the cut for the 50 free (long course meters) is 28.59, and I have a 28.65.

We’ll probably cut it down to just one three hour (including dryland) practice once school starts, otherwise we’d all turn into zombies. Do you plan to swim for college?

Hopefully I’ll swim in college.

Pretty good times by the way! I think by the end of is year I could keep up with around that time, I forget what my current long course time is though.

I might be swimming unlisted for the next 4 years. And just training myself.

Btw not everyone do national honors society, to whomever said that it was generic, many clubs are generic. Being in the NHS is a good boost.

@sg12909 After reviewing your posting history, I’ve come to a conclusion.
-You’re a machine.

You’re managing extremely good scores, along with extremely difficult classes, and you’re doing pretty good in swimming. That’s pretty awesome! Do you plan on pursuing the sport professionally at all?

I’ve been stalking, so now I’m actually going to join this conversation! Class of 2017!!! What schools are you all going to?

Well, hi ^ (:

I’m not going to give my exact school, but I live in mn and am going to a fairly competitive public high school! How about you?

Hahaha hi! I’m going to the Winsor school in Boston.

That’s awesome! What kind of ECs are you interested in?

Crew, tennis, drama!!, and probably mock trial, but I want todo more clubs, too! I’ll know when I get there, I guess. What about you?

lol Oboefreak, I’m going to take that as a compliment.

The thing about SATs and ACTs is that you can study for them, and once you understand how the test works, you’re set.
Most of my difficult classes involve memorization, so I might read the chapter, do the problem set, then forget everything the next day. That’s why I do well in English- you don’t really have to learn anything to write an analytical essay.
I’m probably not going to swim in college unless the applicant field gets much tougher (I’m aiming for Stanford, Ivies, typical Asian :p) I’m not quite at THAT level.

I really have no idea what I’m gonna major in, so I just try to do as much as I can academically. What do you guys want to do when you graduate?

Volleyball, deca, student council, probably more too. I’m in the same boat as you, I’ll know when I get there!

I’m really excited to start school! I still have a couple months, though.

On another note… I’ve been looking at different programs at colleges for next summer (as a rising sophomore) and have only found 2 that I might be interested in. Do you know of any?

@sg I am hoping to go for the pre-med track. I feel like half of the people on here go for that, but whatever (:. I think it would be really interesting (I LOVE biology).
