@apandia @kawaii I probably will. gotta see if my parents will let me though! The school allows you to finish a year of college early and with my advanced schedule, I would finish two :)

“Although some schools encourage their sophomores to take the PSAT/NMSQT for guidance purposes, these students must take the test again when they are juniors to enter NMSC’s competitions if they are spending the usual four years of study in grades 9 through 12.”

@Kawaiiii I am just on the edge about it because it would mean that I wouldn’t have as many EC opportunities like playing basketball or running. I also would have a messed up schedule… I still have time to think about it. It is a great opportunity but still, there are the pros and there are the cons
Here is the link to the school.

@Kawaiiii Well next year I would have finished Chem, Physics and PreCalc. The school offers to juniors Physics and PreCalc, but the Calc and advanced science sequence would be taken at the college. That would screw with my schedule.

@kawaiiii A good amount. I would be going back and forth from the college to the academy for half the day, The length of college courses are different than the high school ones. But an advantage would be that I would have gotten realllllyyyyyy far ahead in the math and science portion. IDK but there are so many pros & cons. It is a hard decision. I would have to talk to the academy themselves and see how it would work. I still have time to think about it though. No rush

I like my current school. It has pretty cool and interesting students/friends. The teachers love me and basically let me skip around and get ahead. The place is clean, new, and one of the best in MA. They offer a lot of advanced classes, the teachers know how to teach and they typically send off a good amount to top tier schools. There are lots of opportunities. Only con is that senior year I will be taking two online classes :(

People from my school don’t apply because many either a) don’t like science/math b) haven’t heard of it c) can’t commute the 20 minutes or d) like the school and don’t want to leave their friends

@livelaugh7 Sounds like you don’t want to go… If you don’t want to go, don’t!
However, if your love for science outweighs all the nice stuff at your current HS, then maybe you should go.
What does your GC say? (or have you not talked to him/her about this?)

@DigitalKing I like my school, but I really love that there is this amazing science opportunity. My GC doesn’t know about it. I’m just unsure if its worth it, ya know? I think I am gonna try to get a shadow day and see what I think of the school. What worries me is the schedule. Other than that, i am all for it

All of the above are me x 2 except for
3. You have your whole life already planned.
Sure I have long-term goals, but I barely know what I have to do throughout the week, much less the next day.

Anyone here struggling with state/national competitions? I’ve only done things within my school so far (Key Club, Started a club, JV Quiz Bowl). So far I’m looking pretty cookie-cutter.
