High School Class of 2017

@Yakisoba‌ I’ve done nothing.

@apandia @livelaugh7 That was the joke. :smiley:
@yakisoba Nope! State math, state sci oly, NLE, etc.)

Same @Yakisoba‌ I have been having trouble. I have a month of shadowing/interning with a pathologist. Next year I’ll be on the science team. Community service. I’m not a big fan of competitions though. Although maybe I may do some science ones. Def want to do a research gig. To young though :(

I’ve never had a blog before… So we will see how it goes.

@Digitaking the blog just happens to be about what I think and who I am and what I hear. We were having a convo about this at school and those were things that come to mind

Not necessarily arrogant though. Just me. :slight_smile:

Anyone here a math/science person?

@livelaugh7 no hate! :slight_smile: Sorry if that made you feel bad; didn’t intend to!

I’m a math/science person, but I don’t want to major in STEM. I’d rather do something involving business or politics.

@livelaugh7‌

I’m a math/science person and going to major in STEM

@Kawaiiii‌ @DigitalKing‌ I am as well. Ive been having trouble finding interesting ec other than the science/math club type things. Any ideas? I am going to major in STEM, most likely Biochemistry or Neuroscience or something in that area.

@DigitalKing‌ All good :)

@livelaugh7‌

Do competitions. I need to find some interesting ECs for myself as well.

@Kawaiiii‌ I’m eligible next year (as per the rules of my school :confused: ) I may volunteer at the local hospital and I’m shadowing a pathologist over the summer. But I can’t think of anything else. I reallllllyyyyyyy want to do RSI summer after junior year though.

OH! and I’m most likely applying to the STEM school :slight_smile:

Wow how come you guys ignore my posts? Am I not cool enough for this discussion?

@dsi411 Don’t feel bad!.. There’s just not much to respond to…
BTW I looked at your blog; your passion for gardening really comes across nicely. Seriously!

@dsi411 Oh sorry! yeah i agree with @DigitalKing‌, don’t feel bad!

How long have you been gardening? Are you really interested in the environmental sciences?

Um not that long…I just got bored and I wanted to grow something. No need to apologize. I don’t know if I’m interested in the environmental sciences since I’ve never taken an environmental science class. I just like growing stuff.
A question for you all: What time is it where you live and are you done with your homework?

It is 8:30 and I never get homework (that I have to do at home)!

Wow lucky…It’s 6:34 where I am and I’m currently studying for the AP Human Geography exam. So not really homework but still.

Another question: How can people self-study for an AP exam in the summer if the exam is administered in the spring? Won’t they forget everything?

I should really be studying.

Well… I selfed AP Psych over the summer. Bad decision (i.e. forgot like everything, lol).
If its a more conceptual, learning AP, then it’s a good idea. It’s tough to forget concepts that take you a long time to master.
However, if it’s something like Psych or Environ. Sci., which are volatile subjects, then it’s pretty easy to forget.

What was the point of self-studying for you? I wanted to do that for AP Art History because I thought that would work for my VAPA requirement, but apparently you have to actually take the class. So what’s the point? Mostly if you’re going to a college where they don’t give credit for APs.

I would say it’s because I’ve got nothing better to do, but that would lead to numerous people criticizing me… (however, that is the truth; the March-May time period is just tennis for me.)
My award-winning self wants to break the state record and/or be the State AP Scholar…
My egotistical self wants praise from others, as people understand the difficulty of APs. Nobody at my HS gets how difficult winning at state math and science tournaments was. But they get what it means to take an AP.
My determined self wants to prove to myself that I too can “compete” (as if this is a competition) with students from top high schools. Bring some pride to my HS!
Of course, the actual incentive of AP tests, the college credit, is appealing too. However, it’s not the main reason for taking so many APs.

Oh yeah that AP Scholar thing. I might self-study some APs just so I can get that award. I like awards…

Are you from California? State AP Scholar is probably INSANE in California. Like 25ish AP tests…
I could probably win my state with around 23 (by junior year, of course!), maybe a little less actually.
