I hated my first year of high school. my ultra-competitive school sucks. cheers.

try to aim for a 210+ on 9th grade psat

Ew. I haven’t even studied for that (my school requires all 10th graders to take PSAT and Pre ACT)… I’m going to wing the PSAT and Pre ACT (Is this the one they call PLAN?) and then go from there.

@letmeseetheworld IB MYP/DP is hell

Are you guys actually gonna study for the PSAT? It’s a bit ridiculous, I think, when people make hardcore study schedules.

And did anyone take it in 9th grade?

No. I think the PSAT should just reveal how you score with little preparation. The real SAT is a different deal, though I’m unsure how exactly I’ll fully study for it. Don’t we have the new version anyway?

Gotta study vocab. That’s about it.

Next year I want a 230 PSAT so I’ll probably do a practice test or a part of one, though.

How long should APUSH notes be per chapter??? I feel like I am writing to much! Any help?

@livelaugh7

I felt like that for AP Gov. Part of the summer assignment was textbook notes and that’s practically all we ever did for homework. Just write down as much as you need to for now and study that. If your notes are really long, I suggest gradually studying instead of trying to learn everything all at once. As the year goes by, your notes will get shorter and you’ll have a better idea of what you should be writing down. I guess part of it depends on what kinds of stuff your teacher wants you to know and what you could be tested on. From something really detailed to just main ideas.

My teacher is known to be tricky, but thank you! How large should my notebook be?

@livelaugh7 I went through a full notebook and a half but I used it for another class that basically covered the same info. I think it had a hundred pages. Not sure but I’ve never seen a really huge notebook with more than anywhere around that much. I’d love to have one for really detailed classes though.

I have a 200 page notebook, I think I’ll use that. Thanks for your help @letmeseetheworld

I finally got my report card and my school calculated my average incorrectly for history. Since every quarter is worth more than the less(ex. quarter 2 has more of an effect on the average than quarter 1 but quarter 3 is worth more than quarter 2 and quarter 4 is worth more than quarter 3) Anyway I got a B+ for quarter 1, B+ for quarter 2, B for quarter 3 and A for quarter 4. But my average for the class is a B and I know this may seem like overreacting. But my average for this class counts for my GPA, so when colleges see my GPA in 2 years they will see incorrect GPA. All of this is because of the mess that is my school system and this has happened before. In quarter 1 I didn’t make honor roll because my teacher entered in the wrong grade. I earned a C+(which isn’t too good I know) but he wrote it down as a C. And he apparently sent a note to the director of the science board saying my grade was incorrect and it’s still a C on my report card for quarter 1. By the way quarter one’s report cards were sent out in NOVEMBER and 9 months have passed. A lady could have given birth in the time its taken my school to NOT change my grade. Sorry that was really long rant I just though someone could understand my pain and maybe they’ve had to deal with the same thing.

@iheartshopping I’m sorry about what happened on your report card; hopefully you’ll get it fixed. Best of luck :)

Schedule:
AP Calc BC
AP Stats
AP World
AP Bio
Gift Spanish II
Gift Engineering Aplications
Gift Sophomore LA

Should I have taken a music class or programming instead of Stats?

@bandicoot12 You can take either any year, can’t you?

@iheartshopping

You can get a grade change form and have the grade changed. At the worst, your guidance counselor can write a note explaining what happened. However, grade changes can work essentially till the end of time, so I wouldn’t worry if the teacher is willing to do some paperwork

What classes are you guys going to take next year?

@bandicoot12

You should look into doing Linear Algebra concurrently. If you took that for a semester at a local CC and then did Differential Equations 2nd semester while still doing Calc BC, you’d essentially finish math for college sophomores

newbie here. Can anybody please rate this freshmen schedule:

Algebra 2 H
Biology H
AP World History
English 1 H
French 1 H
Programming with Java

I’m thinking of self-studying French so I could receive a high score in the placement test and end up in French 2 H
Also, do you think taking Bio H for freshmen is a disadvantage for college admission since a lot of posts here makes me feel behind
