I was just planning on getting the crash course book and the five steps to a five books. If I thoroughly read and review all the content in these books, will that be enough? Or is there more I can do?

@NP4life I think that you could self-study AP Human Geography, but don’t expect to be prepared for the FRQs unless you REALLY commit to memorization. In no way am I condoning self-study–take the class!

Hello! I hope that it isn’t weird that I am just appearing on this thread… I want to major in Orthotics and Prosthetics, which requires a four year science degree and then a two year masters program. I have been looking for colleges, but there are only a couple colleges that have the masters program and they are all really far away…

I love sports!!! Any sport you name, I have most likely done it! I also love traveling and learning new cultures. I just applied for NSLI-Y, to go to Russia for a summer… :-SS I don’t have high hopes for being accepted this year because I am only a freshmen and usually just juniors and seniors get in… But I would be absolutely ecstatic if I did get accepted!

Sorry for the long post, I could go on and on for forever about the weirdest things!

Anyone else apply to NSLI-Y? Or does anyone else LOVE sports?

High school was not fun. Worked my butt off, though, so I hope I can get rewarded. However, I do feel that I learned a lot along the way, so dont beat yourself over it too much. Youll be fine. High school builds character.

I’m thinking about being a foreign exchange student in Japan next year! Mainly to work on my Japanese skills, but I also love Japanese culture (no, not just anime) and I think it would be fun to spend a semester (maybe even a year) in away from home :)

@LosingCrayon

:P You would have an awesome time in Japan! My neighbors just moved from Japan, and they have two little kids that can’t speak English very well. They are sooo cute! The littlest one will talk go on and on in Japanese and we will just nod our heads and pretend that we know that she is saying… But they are picking up English really fast now! (I wish that I could learn a language so fast!) I also have a friend that is studying Japanese on her own and can speak pretty well. How/when did you become interested in Japan? :)>- (this is what my little Japanese neighbors do in EVERY picture! I have no clue why!)

P.S. Sorry to change your mental picture of me, but I am a girl… (from the “rate the schedule above you” thread!)

@fromUSA2Russia Your neighbors sound so adorable! :3 My friend moved from Japan to America when she was 10 without knowing any English, but now she speaks it like her first language :o :)>- Your neighbors sound so cute! xD

I guess I became interested in Japan when I started taking Japanese lessons from my piano teacher xD I decided I wanted to learn Japanese for no reason I guess, and then she just made it seem so interesting Except I’m not really learning much anymore, so living there would help It would help if my teacher used a high school textbook though, because learning all these business terms doesn’t seem useful to me >_<

Good luck for getting accepted for NSLI-Y! Russia sounds awesome How/when did you become interested Russian culture? :)

I’m sorry! I shouldn’t have just assumed you were a guy in the first place :S Lots of people originally think I’m a girl on here :P

@LosingCrayon

Yes, they are sooo cute! They are actually playing in our backyard right now… Living in the country is usually the best and fastest way to learn a language, at least what I’ve heard! If I ever need to learn any Japanese buisness terms, I know who to ask! :)P :)>- Have you ever asked your Japanese friend for help? I am learning Russian on my own just from online sites and YouTube videos. I have also gotten a book from the library, but I am more of a visual auditory learning, so books don’t help much…
Thanks! I am just hoping to get past the first round as a freshie… Hmmm, I have always been interested in different cultures and traveling, but I can’t pin down when I started having such a passion for anything Russian… It started around when I was 10, though. The more I research the culture, the more I want to go there! For your sake, I won’t go on and on about Russia, I could talk about it for forever! Sorry for not being able to answer your question quite right…
That’s okay! I couldn’t really tell if you were a boy or a girl either! I guess that we both don’t have actual pictures of ourselves as our profile picture! And we both don’t have it in our name… It is really hard to tell on a forum!!!
Sorry for the probably pretty obvious question, but what is anime?

Oh my god 2018 you guys use a lot of emoticons

edit : 17

@Teyrkis

I like smileys!!! Not that you couldn’t see that… I like talking to people in person because then I can use facial expressions and smileys are the closest thing to them.

What does “edit-17” mean?

P.S. What grade are you in?

@fromUSA2Russia I’m a sophomore. I counted 17 emoticons.

@Teyrkis

Edit-21

I like your profile picture! :)

@fromUSA2Russia

I knew a girl who went on exchange to Russia last year! She spent a year somewhere in the south of Russia (sorry, I don’t remember exactly where haha)

Guys I’m getting excited about exchange but trying not to, because obviously I’m applying for scholarships and who knows if I’ll get a scholarship. I should be studying instead of reading exchange blogs, but the exchange blogs are a lot more interesting!

Wait I thought this was the NSLI-Y thread…Oops…Don’t know how I made that mistake…And I have no idea how to edit my post

Guys I have a big question. So next year I will have only one elective and I have to choose between vocal ensemble or beginning orchestra.

I really like singing and I’m in my church choir but I really want to learn how to play the cello. My school has a singing club so too. I don’t know what to do. Should I join the orchestra and do singing club??

Warning- I might be slightly biased because I am in orchestra and my older sister plays cello! :)

@Cookiesandcreme

It probably depends on if you like singing so much that you want to do both church choir and the school’s vocal ensemble. If you don’t really know, try out the orchestra! Then you can sing with your church choir and play in your school’s orchestra. The idea of doing orchestra and singing club is a good one too, but it probably depends on how busy you want to be… Sorry that I am not much of a help, but I tried!

How is life?

I’m most likely going to get a B in English this semester If I’m lucky, maybe a B+, and if I’m really lucky (as in raising my grade 4 percent in a week) an A-.

Busy… With school of course (and learning two other languages)…

Don’t worry fellow freshmen, I’m super stressed too. Starting this week, we have EOCs and I’m super stressed studying for it (aiming for a perfect score). Also the week after, we have more state tests and finals. On top of all this, I also have regular tests and an honors band auditions starting on Saturday. ON TOP OF ALL THIS, I broke my trombone which is needed. And still, I’m on CC :))
