My high school starts in 10th grade for some reason, instead of 9th grade. How’s high school my fellow 18’ers?
@Kelvin82 Ok thanks!
@GeekEthan I might be in the minority here but I like HS a lot more than middle school. I’ve seen a lot of people on here saying middle school was better because it was easier and there’s less responsibility. But I love the freedom that comes with high school and this is one of my favorite years of school so far.
Also class of 2018 here. Freshman year went by so fast. I already have my sophomore classes. Has anyone taken AP psychology? I’m taking it next year.
@ragonfruit18 Hehe sorry for the incredibly late response! I didn’t come on CC and had a temporary hiatus because that was around midterms and things were absolutely crazy (honestly I feel like I’m still recovering :p). Thanks! My practice ends at 5:30-5:45. I’m long distance here! The reason why I get home so late is because I live so incredibly far from my school. It’s the commuting that screws me up! At my school we have study halls, which sounds a bit similar to your school’s “breaks”- The only thing is that my schedule doesn’t allow for a study hall or period. A good solution if I was a good and sane person would be to probably lighten up my academic schedule as a result, but I’d rather not. I guess I’ve just learned to roll with the punches. Thanks for the advice! How was your last three months been?
By the way- Middle School= 1,000x better. I love the freedom in High School yes, but I think I loved my sanity more in Middle School. I think I’m holding this opinion because as a Freshman, the transition from Middle School to High School provides for a rude awakening academically (and physically lol). As the years go on and I adjust more to the rigorous life that is High School, I think I’ll prefer these upcoming 4 years, as to the fun and freedom seems promising.
PS- Are any of you guys worried about EC’s? I certainly am. I feel like I’ve done nothing! What have you guys done so far/are doing?
Hello fellow class !
@apartialhistory I definitely feel you on that. I’m really worried; I’m so unproductive outside of school. Currently, I take martial arts outside of school (1 hr. weekdays, ~3-6 hrs/week), I’m in a band playing keyboard (recently joined, ~2-5), and I’m also in-the-process of beginning my first ever online business. I’ve been spending some free time trying to ease into running and applying for a few scholarships. Next year I’m upping it a notch: joining NJCL, maybe MuAlphaTheta (I keep getting told to join!! Ahh. Peer pressure…), trying out for basketball and possibly track, volunteering at a college during summer, and applying for a job during summer. I would’ve liked to volunteer this summer and such, but I’m cramming two core classes during summer. Online pre-calc and [english or chemistry].
@HelloThereHola I agree, high school for me is easier than middle school. My hardest class right now is dual enrollment, but feels so much easier than that required “life skills” class in 6th grade, no joke.
@praeda An online business! Handling that successfully would be an EC in it’s self- an impressive one at that. Best of luck!
@apartialhistory I’ve heard from a ton of people AP Psych is really easy.
@andrewoz9 Cool! May I ask (without offense of course) why you mentioned it to me? Just curious! Are you looking into it?
@apartialhistory I would imagine he meant to tag the previous poster who asked about AP psychology.
@wjm998 At my school, AP Psych is a joke. Almost half of the (national) test takers scored a 4 or 5, so I would imagine it is one of the easier AP courses.
@apartialhistory lol sorry, yeah I meant to tag the previous poster. My bad.
Haha, no prob. I didn’t look at the previous page, otherwise I would have noticed that you meant them. I really want to take AP Stats, but I can’t until junior year (due to school policies). Anyone have any experience with it?
Thanks @apartialhistory !
I’m also interested in hearing about AP Stats. It sounds fun and interesting, although, so did Geometry… and that was not fun.
Hello all, i’m a freshman but I haven’t really did anything extraordinary in my extracurriculars.
I have only done Math team and robotics (which i have not won any competitions)
Is it not too late to get started sophomore year?
I want to do science bowl, science olympiad, TSA (Technology Student Association) next year.
I know! I already picked my classes for sophomore year too. Glad to know I’m not the only one who thinks it’s easier. And the AP Human Geography exam is just around the corner ! And next year I get to take Dual Enrollment World History! Fun!! All I’ve done so far is Band (marching and concert).
Anything summer includes a music program/ camp. I guess I should get more involved.
Is anyone taking AP world next year? And AP bio this year? I don’t know if this is the norm for all other high schools.
I would take AP World History but they don’t offer it at my school. Anyways, freshman year is almost done!
I’m taking WHAP next year @winter21
