Good luck to your class and just keep in mind every class is getting more competitive than the last so try your best! With that said you should also have fun and join extracurriculars while your freshman and sophomore schedules are pretty lax. If you youngsters need help with scheduling or tips I’m happy to give advice!
@Darknez have you taken Algebra II yet? If so do you need a graphing calculator in the beginning, I haven’t bought mine and my class starts next week.
@TrainerGary I have just completed it this year actually. You DO NOT need a graphing calculator (but some teachers have their preferences which may require you to buy one). There are a very few sections in Algebra 2 where a graphing calculator is needed but your teacher wouldn’t make you buy something expensive just to use it a few times a year.
Would you recommend reviewing over the summer about topics from our future courses?
@TrainerGary I would get a graphing calculator, you use it all the time (I may be biased because my last 2 years of math, algebra 2 and precalc have been online but its helpful for homework and you’re going to be using it for the rest of your high school and college math (and science classes) so from my point of view its a good investment.
Yeah @TrainerGary I’m taking Algebra 2 this year and you’re really going to want one. It helps with pretty much everything; I even programmed the quadratic formula into it and used it in my Physics class.
@TrainerGary You don’t need to review for Algebra II becuase the 1st half is essentially a review of Algebra I.
I am taking Algebra 2 this year and although we used calculators it wasn’t really necessary. And you definitely don’t need a graphing calculator until pre-calculus. We used calculators for really complex numbers and formulas or if we were too lazy to do addition.
I got a B in health
That stinks @Cookiesandcreme
I go to a private school with no gym or health or anything like that, so I don’t have to worry about those xD.
However, the honor roll list for the past quarter just went up, and I’m exactly tied for first with another kid. Super nervous…
Honestly as I reflect over this freshmen year I get more and more upset about myself. I thought freshmen year would be academically easy and that I was on my road to Harvard/MIT yet I continue to get B’s that lower my GPA. One B and my perfect GPA is ruined. Two and its like I never tried. I’m so sad and scared to see my final grades
@Cookiesandcreme Do you know your rank in class? Just curious; you don’t have to answer if you don’t want to.
No I’m not even sure if my school does ranks. If they do its not openly posted @gotmar
Its ok Cookies I have 3 B’s if that makes you feel any better ):
@Cookiesandcreme It’s okay! A lot of colleges don’t look at freshmen grades; if they do, they will be able to see your upward trend starting sophomore year.
@Cookiesandcreme I know what it feels like too. I don’t really understand… I think I’ve been trying a lot less than in middle school, or just too many extracurriculars. I never got below a 96% in middle school and I feel like the curriculum isn’t that much harder. I’ve always anticipated that I would get straight As throughout high school. I want to get into Harvard as well… We should let this serve as a life lesson for us. There are like 3 more years of high school in addition to about 8 years of college. 2 semesters per year. Is it likely for us to get straight 50 more As? No! So might as well mess up during freshman year. Although I’m saying this as comfort, I too feel the same way. Stay strong!
I have like a 64 in online fitness but its a pass or fail class
I’ve gotten 3 B’s so far ;n; B’s in English both semester and a B in Algebra this semester. And it only gets harder…
I got one B last semester in AP Bio
Hey guys, I wanted some advice for the summer. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to sign up for any summer programs because I’m traveling internationally but only for two weeks and then I have the whole summer to go. What do I do??
