Everyone is taking so many AP classes this year and I’m like, “Am I really that much of an underachiever?”
@HalfwayThereUni1 Couldn’t agree more!
@tonyk16 One day you’ll find us huddling in the corner rocking back and forth and going crazy from the sleep deprivation and stress. Then you’ll remeber why you decided to preserve your sanity.
What books are you guys reading now in English? Right now we’re reading Frankenstein, and we finished A Separate Peace last quarter. This quarter we also got to pick a nonfiction independent reading books, and I chose The Girl with Seven Names, a memoir about a North Korean defector :3
We’re reading “Warriors Don’t Cry”. It needs to be taken off the list in many people’s opinions… Next quarter is poetry. (moan)
We’re reading A Midsummer’s Night dream. Plays this semester and novels next semester. Shakespeare is hard!!! :((
We’re reading a play called ‘The Crucible’ right now in English 3
@Phantomlink We just finished The Crucible!
We finished act 3 like 2 weeks ago but my teacher’s been putting act 4 on hold while we do a bunch of other stuff.
Is anyone on IBSurvival? I registered for the site and I didn’t get the email confirmation. bummer
@Madeline25 Thank you! Four weeks from Saturday!
@HalfwayThereUni1 I considered UCBerkeley until I saw that they give little to no merit aid to out-of-state students. I’m hoping to get into Caltech to study Planetary Astronomy (maybe double-major with Astrophysics. idk) or Harvard/NEC to study Astrophysics/Music Performance or even McGill to study Planetary Astronomy and Music Performance.
@tonyk16 I’m only taking 1 AP this year, if it makes you feel better.
@LosingCrayon I’m reading Moby-Dick for my quarter 1 English project.
I’m so close to bringing some of my grades up to the next letter grade!! 84.23% in Math (need to bring up 0.27% to get a B -), 84.44% in AP Bio (need to bring up 0.06% to get a B -), and 89.91% in French 3H (need to bring up 0.59% to get a B+). This is going to be a busy rest of the week. Fingers crossed!
@frazzledazzle Ooooooo Astronomy!
: ( I know… I’m hoping to make Gates Millennium, but if I can’t make Berkeley, I’m going for American.
@frazzledazzle You really need to bring up your grades if you wanna go to Caltech
@BucketsUCSC I realize that.
You can do it! @frazzledazzle Just try your hardest and make sure the college knows that. College admission is not only about grades.
@frazzledazzle Also remember that colleges don’t see quarter grades! You still have a full quarter to bring those b’s to a’s! Just work hard and you’ll be there!
@sewin2music Thank you! I also have other grades that are doing better than these (a B and 3 A+'s!). I only mentioned the ones that were close to the next letter grade up.
The reason my Bio was so low is because I started it late (switched into it from Honors a week or so in). Missed some material. Math is bad due to a bad test. I had almost a B + beforehand. Overall, I’m doing better at this point this year than the same moment last year.
@aspiringgirl i hate to be a pessimist but over 95% of the time it is and @frazzledazzle does your school operate on a quarter system or a semester one so do grades reset every quarter if it is a semester system thats great as the quarter grades won’t matter but if you operate on a quarter system that’ll hurt
@aspiringgirl Thank you!
@BucketsUCSC Both. We get quarter grades, but we also have an overall semester grade that is the average of the quarter grades (40%-45% of total each) plus the midterm/final (15%-20% for honors/AP classes and 10% for regular level). The semester grades determine credit. Colleges look at the grades, but they also look at SAT/ACT scores and EC’s, along with the application itself. Grades aren’t everything, but they are a factor in the app process.
