High School Class of 2018

Anyone else here applying for the Disney Dreamers Academy?

@HalfwayThereUni1

9th grade - English 1
10th grade - English 2
11th grade - English 3 OR AP Lang
12th grade - English 4 OR AP Lit

however I am a grade level ahead in English

@HalfwayThereUni1 If your referring to AP Chem and AP Bio, they are both considered to be pretty hard.

As far as odd teachers go, today one of my friends said she didn’t think she did well on the PSAT and that my math teacher was going to smack her with the wizard ball. Then the teacher in the class we were in (history) then told us to be quiet otherwise he would start blasting Korean pop and modern middle eastern.

@Phantomlink OHH!!! It makes so much sense now! I’m ahead in math, but our school doesn’t allow being ahead in English.

@Madeline25 :frowning: I have a Honors Bio test tomorrow… it’ll either make me or break me… And your teacher sounds FUN!!

I feel the same about the science math thing…it aggravates me

@HalfwayThereUni1 for me Bio honors if you studied enough and did the homework paid atention in class and applied yourself during the labs you could easily get a B, but Chem sometimes no matter how much you try it doesnt make a difference.

@HalfwayThereUni1 I started school September 1st this year, and we are supposed to get June 7th if there are no “snow days”(winters are bad here). I kind of feel we have a short school year…

@tonyk16 I am reading Moby-Dick for my free-choice quarter 1 project. I haven’t read To Kill A Mockingbird yet, but I want to in the future. School also started for me on September 1st, but we get out on June 13th if we have 3 snow days. Winters are rough where I live, too.

@frazzledazzle It is a great book, even though a lot of the kids in my class complain about it being boring. My free choice book was Fahrenheit 451 which was phenomenal. I recommend it be your next choice if you haven’t read it yet. Last year we had 7 snow days!! We didn’t get out till the 18th.

@tonyk16 I also want to read that book. It’s on my list. Last year my school had 5 snow days. I hate winter and Nor’easters.

Snow days… Right… So are “It’s too hot for winter”-days a thing? They should really be a thing…I have yet to see snow…

We’re reading Fahrenheit 451 next semester! Yay! I hope…
Why have I used so many ellipses…

Here in Oklahoma, it gets pretty bad but not horrible. Mostly just roads too slippery for buses to drive on because of the frozen ice, etc. But one year, I think I was in elementary school, we had an ice storm. It was horrible!

Winter what is this foreign word you speak of herein california temperature stays the same throughout the year

Lucky. I think we had 8 feet or more of snow by the end of the winter. My town had more than 130 inches of snow.

The marking period ends in 2 weeks and I’m so nervous! My AP Bio teacher still hasn’t put our summer assignment grades in (they were HUGE…mine was 45 pages long) and I’m super stressed about that. Also I really hate APUSH. This marking period was so overwhelming.

But on a good note: Sophomores won spirit week!!

@sewin2music They should be right?? Fahrenheit 451 is a really good book, but it is kind of short. I’ve heard that Bradbury took one of his short stories and turned into the novel, but I am not sure.

@aspiringgirl Yeah, I hear that it is worse for those places that get just around freezing point because of “freezing” rain and you can’t see it on the road when you drive. Very, very hazardous.

@frazzledazzle North East got hit very hard last year. I hear talk about how in NYC it can cost over $1 million to clear just one inch of snow, and they were getting like three foot storms at a time. :open_mouth:

@BucketsUCSC Lucky! Where I live (Texas) it has just been flooding all the time. We might get snow this winter, but the cold weather came so late in the year that I doubt it. I am anxiously counting down the days until Spring. :((

@tonyk16 I read Fahrenheit 451 last year and loved it, but 1984 had to be the best dystopian novel I’ve ever read. I keep coming back to it as a reference for History and English essays.

@Hamlon Glad to year. Who writes 1984? I have not heard of it til now.

*hear…sorry my bad

George Orwell wrote 1984. It is such a good book.
