@raffie how are your grades RN
@frazzledazzle my friends call me the realist because right now im in 3 honors/AP and have 2 B’s and I’m looking realistically at UCSB. you can’t have a 3.4 and except to get into Ivies. That’s for everybody, you can have reach school s but realistically asses where you can legitimately get in
Hi guys! Yesterday I was curious and decided to plan my courses for junior and senior year with my counselor. I would really appreciate it if you all would look to see if the schedule is rigorous, but not too rigorous. I had only planned my classes, however, nothing is set in stone.
Junior Year
Elective: Principles of Engineering
Extra Elective (Since we only have two years of PE, I’ll take Health and PE II online): AP Computer Science Principles or AP Computer Science A
Science: AP Chemistry
History: US and Virginia History (I’m from Virginia)
Math: Functions/Trigonometry (Pre-Calculus)
Foreign Language: Spanish II
English: English 11
Online Classes: Health and PE II and World History II
Senior Year
Elective: Programming
Extra Elective: AP Computer Science Principles or AP Computer Science A (Which ever one I didn’t take junior year)
Science: Advanced Earth Science
Social Studies: U.S. and Virginia Government
Math: AP Calculus AB
Economics (Since I’ll be finished taking Spanish): AP Economics
English: English 12
By the way, AP Computer Science Principles is a new class that will replace AP Computer Science B.
It will replace AP Computer Science B next year
@ak2018 Yo, since you’re in VA, don’t you need 3 years of one language or 2 years of 2?
@ak2018 I probably won’t, but I can dream!
I’ve also planned all of my classes. I wanted to see if I could take all of the classes I wanted to, along with the classes I need to graduate.
Junior year:
AP Language
Astronomy
APUSH
Hon. Chemistry
Calculus AB
Band
Hon. French 4
Senior year:
AP Literature
Personal Finance
AP World History
AP Physics
Calculus BC
Band
AP French
I might be able to take an Astronomy course at a university next year, so, if I did, Personal Finance would take the place of Astronomy, and AP Stats for Personal Finance.
I took Italian during middle school (3 years), which based on the IB system only counts for two years. So I did Italian 1 and 2 in middle school, (I did Italian 1A in 6th grade and Italian 1B in the 7th grade) and now I’m going to do Spanish 1 and 2. So I’m doing 2 years of two.
Hey guys I have a bit of a problem. I’m taking two APs: World History and Computer Science. I love World but I definitely hate Comp Sci. I thought that I liked programming but it turns out I don’t so what do I do? I can’t drop the class but now I don’t feel like taking the AP test.
I’ve also been thinking a bit about next year’s classes and after finding out that my English 3 teacher also teaches AP Capstone I kind of want to take that now. So as of right now my junior year tentative schedule is
Criminal Justice Operations 3
AP Capstone Seminar
AP English Language & Composition
Weight Training
Probability & Statistics
AP US History
Physics 1 Honors
Online Courses FLVS:
AP Computer Science A (Semester 1)
AP US Government & Politics (Semester 2)
and tentative senior year -
Criminal Justice Operations 4
AP Capstone Research
AP English Literature & Composition
AP Economics
[TBA elective spot]
AP European History
Anatomy & Physiology Honors
Online Courses FLVS:
AP Statistics
You don’t have to take the AP exam if you don’t want to! @cookiesandcreme
How are you taking AP classes online? @phantomlink Is it through your school?
@aspiringgirl Florida Virtual School offers the following AP’s free for Florida residents.
AP Art History
AP Biology
AP Calculus AB
AP Calculus BC
AP Computer Science A
AP Eng. Lang. and Composition
AP Eng. Lit. and Composition
AP Environmental Science
AP Human Geography
AP Macroeconomics
AP Microeconomics
AP Psychology
AP Statistics
AP United States Government and Politics
AP United States History
@frazzledazzle That seems like a really good schedule! Hope you’re able to handle it.
@awesomepolyglot I took Italian during middle school (3 years), which based on the IB system only counts for two years. So I did Italian 1 and 2 in middle school, (I did Italian 1A in 6th grade and Italian 1B in the 7th grade) and now I’m going to do Spanish 1 and 2. So I’m doing 2 years of two.
These will be my classes for the next couple of years if I don’t get into the Biomedical Science program:
Junior Year:
AP Lit
AP Calc BC
AP USH
AP Chem
Spanish 3
elective (some extra science class/ thinking anatomy and Physiology)
Senior year:
Ap Lang
AP Envionmental Science
Calc 3
AP Euro
AP Spanish Lit
Elective (Some science class)
@Cookiesandcreme I’ve heard a lot of people like you who didn’t like AP Computer Science. Would you mind describing why you don’t like the class? I’m planning on taking the new one next year called AP Computer Science Principles. It will be out at most schools fall of 2016. Honestly, I’ve heard that most teachers are bad because its a new curriculum and even they don’t know it. I’m honestly questioning whether or not to even take the class. I’ve heard it’s better just to self-study the class. Also, I would still take the exam, just to see what you’d get. You don’t need to send the score in.
@Phantomlink It’s really great that you’ve starting to plan out your classes. That’s definitely a great schedule. I wish my school system would let us take online AP classes for free. All we take take online through my school system are non-AP classes that are about $450 per course.
@aspiringgirlaspiringgirl Well that sure is a good schedule! I would take AP Environmental Science but the teacher at my school sucks.
@ak2018 Thank you! I’m surviving/doing well in the classes I am in now. My current teachers also say I’m on the right path to take those classes in the future.
@BucketsUCSC I realize that they might be a little unrealistic, but I can always change the list of what schools I’m interested in as time goes on. Those are the ones that I’m looking into right now. There are also some on my list that I might delete. Only time will tell.
I was away from CC for three days, and I get 200+ notifications. How does that work?? Anyways, @ak2018, welcome to the College Confidential world. Sorry for being late on that one, winter sports got me going crazy. Excellent grades by the way. Keep it up. :-bd
Since we all are talking about schedules for the next couple of years here is my tentative course load.
Junior Year:
AP US History
Chemistry Hon.
AP Calculus AB (if I can take pre-calculus over the summer, my guidance counselor still hasn’t verified)
-Pre-calculus Hon.-if not taking AP Calc.
Civics/Consumerism Hon.-Required course
American Lit. Hon.
Spanish II (never took Spanish freshman year )
AP Environmental?? Maybe
Senior Year:
AP Stats
AP World History

I don’t have my schedule planned out yet but I’m contemplating taking two sciences: Chem and Physics
