I want to study french instead of Spanish so have to wait until 10th grade for foreign Lang. )
What is the math sequence at your school? @mum2019
Why do you have to wait or French is it a sophomore only class?
The advanced track compressed 6,7& 8th grade into 6& 7, so we did accelerated algebra and geometry 1 this year, 2 next year then precalc in 10th grade, 11th grade ap calc, then dual enrollment or AP stats. I plan on doing calc 2&3 dual enrolment. (Rural hs so more options at the college, plan on all senior classes being dual enrolment)
Dang, I’m class of 2018 and I remember when our class were the new peeps in the school. Almost done there!
Have fun! Some advice:
- Don’t procrastinate. (I mean do your homework!)
- Finals will be a nightmare, pay attention in class!
- Study; take the PSAT (if your school let’s you - for practice) just to get an idea on how the test will be so you can be prepared for next year.
- Join at least one extracurricular or two - I recommend Key Club or Interact, Debate/Speech, Music or anything that interests you
I feel like a grandpa looking at you guys, haha!
So, what day do y’all get out? I get out on June 11th.

I got into this STEM magnet school in our area My tentative schedule next year is:
Semester 1: Research Statistics (required)/Semester 2: TJ Math 3 (basically all of Algebra II)
English 9 Honors
Biology Honors
Design and Tech (required)
French II
Computer Science
Gym
Congrats!! @FoodIsLife13
Do 9th graders not take Social Science at your school?
A lot of schools don’t require it, at my school they dont require but they still offer Geography/MUN for freshmen.
Because Design and Tech is a required course, we don’t have space in our schedules to take a social science freshman year. However we still have to make up the credit, so I’m taking World History/Geography over the summer. @IAmNotCreativ
So, what’s your favorite subjects? What AP classes do you plan to take? I wish we had more 19ers on here lol.
@irrationalpepsi I’m taking AP Human Geo. A bunch of people on here have said its a waste of time. Others have said its one of their favorite classes. As social sciences are my favorite classes I’m really excited. Thats the only AP class I’m taking.
@OneExcitedDude I think that it’s really cool that you’re taking an AP class. I want to, but my school advises against freshman taking AP classes. We can, but no one is, as my high school would force you out of it. I’m waiting until Sophomore year to take AP Biology and AP Human Geography, I may take AP Stats, but they recommend us to take Honors Discrete Math beforehand for statistical experience. I don’t care lol.
Sadness. No one is on :’)
I’m taking APUSH next year. It’s the only AP for freshman at my school, but you have to be recommended by your 8th grade history teacher and only 20 freshman are allowed in the class.
I like all subjects except English, but my favorite subjects are math, social science, and science.
@IAmNotCreativ are you ready for that challenge? Lol. Apparently it’s one of the harder AP classes. I’d never take it lol. The only social science AP I would ever take is AP World History and the high school doesn’t offer it. (I think)
(Edit) Wait, is that a social science or a humanities?
I’ve heard that the class isn’t too hard if you study and pay attention in class. There are only two sections of APUSH and the teacher knows that none of the students in the have never taken AP before.
