High School Class of 2021

:open_mouth: how can you guys not shower in the morning? I feel so dirty and dry if I don’t, but my sisters do that thing where you shower at night. I just don’t understand it. ANYWAYS, to make this comment school-related I’ll add my schedule…

6:30 - wake up
6:45 - brush teeth/shower/etc.
7:15 - dress up/use phone(I know I shower long ; )
7:30 - grab snack/go to bus stop
8:50 - arrive at school
8:45 - spanish 1
9:35 - personal fitness
10:25 - geometry h
11:15 - us history h
12:05 - lunch (the only time i see my friends ): )
12:55 - biology h
1:45 - foundations of tech
2:35 - english 9 h
3:25 - dismissal/clubs
5:00 - end of clubs or when i get to my bus stop
6:00 - homework
7:30 - watch tv/read
9:00 - eat snack/go to bed
11:00 - is really watching kdramas on my phone

@5:00 is what drove me to do clubs because that bus ride is longgg
and yes I get to school at 8:50 my bus is always late…
I just realized I don’t eat that much :-S

Haha, oh my, I’m starting to remember why I stopped reading CC posts. Y’all are overachieving a ton. How important would leadership positions be? I think it’s a stretch for me to get any before junior year… I don’t know, I’m not as stressed as I was in the beginning of the year when I wanted to do everything and be good at it. Right now I’m trying to go with the flow and hang out with friends more. The pressure to achieve has drastically decreased.

My schedule’s pretty basic:

7:00 wake up, and brush teeth/wash face/get dressed in a frenzied rush
7:25 arrive at school… hurry to first period
7:30 first class begins, it’s 5 minutes longer because of morning announcements
classes are about 55 min each with 5 min in between
~8:35 second class begins
~9:35 third class begins
~10:35 Lunch & Learn (basically one hour of free time to talk to teachers, hang out with friends, etc.), yes I know it’s an early lunch, sometimes there’s club meetings at this time
~11:35 fourth class begins
~12:45 fifth class
~1:45 sixth class
2:40 school ends, I go to Science Olympiad or one hour of some other club (but then I go back to Science Olympiad once that ends)
5:40 Science Olympiad ends, I go home
6:00 to 6:10 I arrive home, shower, and eat dinner
7:30 I procrastinate and unwind, check my phone, browse imgur, etc. until I realize that it’s 8 already and I still didn’t start homework
8:00 I do my homework, usually I get most of it done in class or during Lunch and Learn, takes 30 min tops, our school’s very, very lax towards freshmen, studying is also pretty minimal
8:30 I start studying Science Olympiad again, currently also trying to learn Python, every other day or so I exercise while watching TV, I also have several art projects going on (I mostly just sketch), sometimes I start (and give up on) various novellas, basically productive time that yields no real result (except for Science Olympiad)
10:30 to 11:00 or so I start getting tired, and revert back to unproductivity, basically reading random articles, reading books, checking my phone…
11:30 to 1:00 depending on my mood, virtually all extremely unproductive time until I go to sleep

I wouldn’t recommend reading CC if over-achievers bother you. For some people it pressures them into thinking to be more advanced (ex. taking classes during summer vs volunteering/first job). However, for me I’m kind of like you. I hang out with my friends a lot more than I actually focus on school because freshman year in my school is not all that hard. I want to make sure to do as much as I can with them this year because in later years we will have less time to talk to each other ):

@raventhemage what classes are you taking? i love this thread, it’s great to relate to one another!

Would you guys recommend taking IB Environmental Systems or AP Physics 1 next year? I hope to pursue Biology and Comparative Government/Politics.

@raventhemage Also how are you learning Python? I’m interested in learning Java lol. Thanks by the way!

When do other schools sign up for classes for the next year?
At my school, we just finished sign-ups.

@birdbear We got our request forms in the beginning of February and had to turn them in at the end of February

What classes are you guys taking next year? I’m doing AP world, bio, art history, honors chem, honors english, honors algebra 2, spanish 3, and privilege period (study hall)

Are you guys familiar with Arena Scheduling? It’s basically where you get to choose what period you want each of you r classes to be. Also for our school we did all of our course selection on skyward but also got a paper with all the classes available for sophomores. We started in December and ended in January. Our arena scheduling window will open April 2nd (next monday).

Hi guys! I finally got accepted into the medical program at the VA hospital. I have a question: would this be too much considering I’m basically taking a whole semester of classes over the summer at the same time I’m at the VA? Also, I signed up for this scholarship program, but I’m not sure I’ll get in so wish me luck!

Never heard of arena scheduling but at my school, you can go to your counselor and ask to switch teachers and class periods for no reason. I know someone who for the second semester of her senior year only had one in-person class.
Next year I’m taking
Honors English
Honors chemistry
Honors civics
Honors pre-calc
Honors Spanish 3(every 3 Spanish 3 class at my school is honors so it’s bound to be boring.)
college credit anatomy
Ap computer science(online)

@holahi Wow, if we had arena scheduling I could finally have classes with my friends…
I’m taking these next year:
★ Eng 10 H
★ Alg 2/Trig H
★ Chem H
★ AP Gov/Polit.
★ Spanish II H
★ Art I
★ [engineering class]
⋆ they are changing the name for next year but basically designing solutions class that is required.

@Nkemdirim Congrats on the acceptance! What are you planning to major in? Also, good luck with the scholarship program!

Wow where do you live that school is 9-4?? The bell schedule in California is:

0 period 6:55
1st period 7:55
2nd period 8:57
Nutrition 9:54
3rd period 10:09
4th period 11:11
Lunch 12:12
5th period 12:47
6th period 1:49
Dismissal 2:46

@alexmom05 I live in Indiana. It’s weird even for here- at my old school last semester, we went 8-3.

One school day= 8:15- 3:35
In my school we have a A/B day block, so to put it simply, we have 5 classes each day. 1st and 8th periods repeat every day and are 1 hour each, then on “a” days, we have 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 8th period. On “b” days, we have 1st, 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th period.
0 Period 8:00- 9:00
1st Period 8:15- 9:15
2/5 Period 9:20-10:55
3/6 Period 11:00- 1:00
4/7 Period 1:05- 2:30
8th Period 2:35- 3:35
9th Period 2:45- 3:45

These are the classes I’m taking next year:

  1. AP English Language G
  2. AP Spanish Language
  3. AP European History G
  4. IB Environmental Systems
  5. IB Pre-Calculus w/ tutoring
  6. Pre-IB Italian 1/2
  7. Highlights (Literary magazine)
  8. AP Computer Science

Would it be too much to take AP Government online? It’s a semester-long.

Also congrats!!

Am I the only one that has 8 periods in a day, including lunch? My classes+lunch are 45 minutes each…

@clo2021 including lunch, i have 7 periods a day. however, next year I’m taking a 0 period, so I’ll have 8 periods (counting lunch). and at my school, each class is 56 minutes and lunch is 30 minutes(way too short imo lol). are you taking a 0 period or something of the sort?

@scenicstars No, a zero period would make it 8 class periods + lunch, I know my school is weird. You’re also allowed to cancel your lunch period in order to take another class so you could take 9 classes in a day if you wanted.

0 Period: 7:45 - 8:30
1 Period: 8:45 - 9:30
2 Period: 9:35 - 10:20
3 Period: 10:25 - 11:10
4 Period: 11:15 - 12:00
5 Period: 12:05 - 12:50
6 Period: 12:55 - 1:40
7 Period: 1:45 - 2:30
8 Period: 2:35 - 3:20

Makes in-class essays, test, etc. super hard.
