Lunch is 3rd through 7th period, mines in 5th
@clo2021 ohh wow lol, that’s a pretty interesting scheduling system your school has, lol. and haha yeah gosh in-class essays must suck with that time constraint. do you ever have block days though? and whoa i didn’t know that cancelling/replacing the lunch period was a thing schools do, but it does make sense considering the wide range of times people go to lunch at your school. having lunch 3rd period seems like a late breakfast— lol! it seems like you did get the better lunch period though, because if i ate at 10-11ish in the morning i’d definitely be hungry during my last few classes, lol.
Unfortunately, no. All classes, same time, everyday for the whole year (except for semester classes).
Another unfortunate thing is that most sophomores have 3rd period lunch :((
@clo2021 oh gosh, well, good luck surviving your sophmore dayz with lunch at 10-11ish in the morning, lol! sounds like it’s going to be quite the struggle but i hope your survive that lmao
could i get advice on something? i’m going to be co-president of a club (biology olympiad) next year. it’s super small rn, but i love bio oly and want to expand our club activities beyond hard studying + get some more people to join (in part because money from the school board only goes so far, if we can even get a non negligible amt; we’re gonna need to fundraise for textbooks and other study materials).
how would you guys suggest i recruit people? also, if any of you participate in the bio oly competition or a general biology club, are there any club activities you guys do aside from studying and if so what are they? got some ideas currently but need to come up with some more before next fall
unrelated: sweet jesus how do you guys deal with eating lunch that early?? mine’s 1-2 (most people eat from 1-2 but based on scheduling other people eat at diff times throughout the day), but last year it was 11-12 and i lowkey wanted to die. can’t imagine eating at 10. u just gotta bring like 40 snacks i guess lmao
Yeah, eating lunch at 10:30 is certainly early, but I guess it evens out since we’re eating breakfast super early anyway. I just bring a bunch of snacks to eat during after-school activities…
In terms of biolympiad…I kind of did it this year (aka attended two meetings and didn’t actually take the test lol) so I can’t say much for content, but I know a thing or two about recruiting. Asking the bio teachers (or just science teachers in general) to ask their students if they’re interested, putting flyers around the school, and I don’t know if your school does this, but having an ad in the morning announcement or news program could do wonders. There’s also good ol’ networking between people, and asking for anyone interested.
Maybe essay competitions for biology? idk
So, to change the topic, when do all of your school years end?
May 29th, but May 28th for me because I’m going to Orlando so I’ll need to pack.
@stanford200381 that sounds pretty fun! are you going to disneyworld & universal over there?
and my last day of school is june 14th!
may 18th! our county started super early this year so that we could end super early. only problem is that it pushes mocks and AP tests rather close together bc there isn’t enough time to space them out but w/e
My last day is May 29th, I think. It can’t come fast enough lol
@scenicstars Yeah, I can’t wait!
My school ends late June (third week) :(( we had a lot of snow days…
Also, I am going to Disneyworld for vacation too, this will be my second time!
Wow. My school year ends on June 14, exactly like @scenicstars . This is an advantage, I can watch every match of the FIFA WC lmao.
Mine ends May 25 so I’d say it’s pretty early
Mine is June 19th
@clo2021 awesome! This is my second time, too.
I think my last day is June 28th. You guys are very lucky.
Our last day of school is June 1. I feel bad for you guys who have to end school late.
My schedule has changed so many times before actually locking it in (for next year). I was so indecisive but I actually have my official schedule for next year.
Honors English 10
Honors Chemistry
Honors World History
Spanish 3
Dual-Credit Pre-Calculus/Trigonometry (it’s 6 college credits- I don’t know if that’s a lot, but I’ll take it)
AP Psychology
Health Education (one semester)/Physical Education 2 OR Introduction to Computer Science
I wanted to take AP Computer Science Principles in place of AP Psych but I need the one semester pre-req, so I guess I’m taking AP CSP next year.
And big stuff is happening for me- first off, my area academic team competition is Tuesday! I’m pretty nervous. I think we’ll do okay but I doubt we’re going to make state.
My mom is giving me her car. I won’t get my license until like May-June of next year, but my dad thinks it’d be good for me to practice driving in my own car. It’s a 2004 blue Saturn Ion. It’s kinda small and cute. I like it- and it’s free!
Lastly, my dad is thinking of moving us again. He wants to live out in the country about 20 miles west. I hate being the new kid but being the new kid in a small town environment is MUCH easier than being the new kid in a city environment. The best thing about this is that it’s close enough to my old school that if I wanted to I can commute there when I get my license. That’d be junior year, though, so I’m not sure if I’d want to go back.
