High School Class of 2021

Is it better to take AP Computer Science A or AP Computer Science Principles first?

@lumen3141 Pretty sure there are multiple threads on that, but if not you should make one. I think asking upperclassmen will be more helpful than asking freshman, we’re in the same boat as you.

Ugh I’ve been doing so bad this semester. Today I didn’t even finish a Biology quiz, so my grade got shat on. Furthermore, it looks like I won’t be able to get an A+ in math, and you get academic now if your quiz falls under a B.

Really feel like trash right now, any tips for studying and making a late semester comeback?

*academic detention

@wontonandrice Me too, I studied so hard fo a Bio test and then got a 71. The thing is that the rest of the class scored lower than me except for this one kid who I think is in Bio Oly, who got a 95 ~X( If anyone in Chem right now can assure me that Chem will be easier :((

Also, when I did the test I felt like I knew everything and I thought I was about to get my first 100 but this is even lower than my grades when I study the lunch period before. Maybe I should revert back to that…

@clo2021 Well, I take Chem, and I don’t know how hard Chem is in your school, but it’s notoriously hard here. Our class has like 17 people, and in the last quiz, all but three guys failed.
Chem is, for me at least, easy because I do extra work at home. If you can’t do that, you should read ahead in class.

@clo2021 at least from my (honors) experience, chemistry is relatively easy if you have a solid math background - my chem teacher is t e r r i b l e (she has no idea how to do chemistry and told us the day before our most recent test that she had taught the entire chapter completely incorrectly???) and I’ve been able to keep a solid A by teaching myself from the textbook and youtube. it doesn’t really overlap with bio at all so you should be fine

anybody here have ap tests coming up? ive got ap world in 2 wks + am taking my sat ii math subject test this weekend. just took my ap world mock exam (it’s the same procedure as the real exam and counts for 20% of our class grade) and it definitely wasn’t as hard as id previously thought so im stoked!!!

Hi guys! So I signed up for my SAT to take over the summer. This is going to be a real SAT. The problem is I test for 3 weeks in May, so I’d have a week to actually study. Has anyone yet taken it? If you have, is it too hard? What type of math does it cover?

@chrysalism i’ve got the ap human geography exam on the 18th!

good luck to everyone taking finals /ap exams / sat tests / other exams, lol! let’s finish the 2017-2018 school year strong!!!

I’m taking the SAT in August! Right now I’m scoring around 1300 so I’m hoping I can get a 1500 with studying

I have my AP Psych exam next Monday! I’m freaked because I studied on my own, so I’ve got no idea how I’ll do, except for the practice tests.

@Nkemdirim The SAT covers everything up till Algebra 2, I think? I saw no Precalculus on there, but I did see Algebra 1, a bit of 2, and Geometry and Prealgebra.

By the way, why are you all taking the SAT?

@Nkemdirim yeah if you have a solid background in algebra 2 you should be fine, i remember seeing like one matrix question on there when I took it but aside from that there’s really no precalc or above. take a practice test just 2 be sure tho

@AtomicMan576 i took it in middle school, when you don’t have to save your score, to get into a summer program. (& then also took the ACT for which i did end up saving my score but that’s beside the point. long story.) aside from summer programs, because i’m fairly sure most colleges don’t require you to submit all your SAT attempts, i imagine a lot of people are taking it as practice for when it really counts in order to get familiar with the test and the environment?

on a related note i just started studying for my SAT Math 2 test in 3 days (all the way thru precalc) and dang there is a lot of geometry on that bad boi. geometry that i took 2.5 years ago and have since erased from my memory. this is gonna be a FUN time!!!

good luck everyone taking APs/the SAT you guys are gonna do great

@AtomicMan576 I’m taking the SAT for a residential high school that one applies to during their early sophomore year.

@chrysalism I’m not even in Pre-Calc yet and I feel you on the geometry part. I took it last summer and remember exactly none of it. Right now we’re starting on Pre-Calc and Trig topics. I’m screwed :)))))

My grades are so bad but honestly I feel really refreshed at this point in the year. We get out on May 31 and have the 25th and 28th off. Right now I actually know what I’m doing in most of my classes, which is honestly shocking. Got finals coming up in a few weeks.

I need to get my PE, Alg 2, Earth Sci, and Theatre grades up. I think I can get my PE grade up easily. We just finished a poster in ES and I think I did well on it so hopefully that brings it up a little bit. Plus, in both Bio and Earth Sci we’re doing like ecology and the whole “save resources, save creatures, ecosystems” unit so I have a leg up in both.

I need to memorize two 60-sec monologues for Theatre. I think I’m going to do a monologue from 1984 when O’Brien talks to Winston about the Party’s motives. I’m not sure about the other one, maybe I’ll do Mark Antony’s speech from Julius Caesar.

My dad’s been pushing me to get a job for the summer. I think I’m going to apply for a job at Subway, Kroger, McDonald’s, and Burger King. I just want some extra spending money.

@CavsFan2003

Not to be busy, but how are they? My grades’s are pretty bad too, so I guess I need someone to relate with.

@CavsFan2003

*nosy, I meant.

@CavsFan2003 I would choose Subway, I think each store only has 2 or 3 people who work there so it’s less crowded and more laid back. McDonald’s and Burger King would be no for me, and I don’t know about Kroger but if it’s like Costco or Walmart then I would choose between that or Subway.

For me, my county has a teen employment program and I signed up for it so I don’t have to necessarily go on the job hunt. You should check if your county has one too!

@wontonandrice They’re honestly not that bad but they’re a lot lower than I’d wish them to be.

Honors Eng 9- A+ (100)
Physical Education- B+ (92)
Honors Earth Science- B (89)
Honors Algebra 2- B (89)
Honors Biology 1- A- (93)
Spanish 2- A+ (100)
Theatre Arts 1- B (88)

@clo2021 I’d like to work at Subway the most! Kroger is like a chiller and way smaller Walmart. It just has groceries- I wouldn’t hate Kroger either.

Hey guys! I’m new to this thread.
Since a lot of people are posting their grades here are mine:
Health/fitness 100.84 A
Intro to Computer Programming 95.75 A
Honors Algebra 2 92.96 -A
Sports Medicine 1 91.07 -A
Honors English 9 101.39 A
Honors Biology 95.37 A

For next year, I want take honors chem, honors modern world history (my school only offers history starting 10th grade), advanced computer programming, honors precalc, honors English 10, anatomy/physiology and possibly self study ap psych, I heard it’s one of the easiest self study aps.

What are your guyses plans for the summer?
I am attending a summer class where I get half a credit of cte. I’m really excited because it’s about DNA and we’ll hopefully do a lot of labs. This is going to be 13 days from 8-3. Then I have a week off and then 2 weeks of volunteering in an outdoors survival camp for 2 weeks from 8-4. This will be my 3rd year, and I can finally work with kids who are older than 8 years old. I was also hoping to take an online art class through byu. And finally I need to fill out an application for the local farm where a lot of teens work and they have a mix of animals, berry farms, restaurant/cafe and a little amusement park. Do you think this is too much? What are you guys up to?
