@lumen3141 Texas Academy of Mathematics and Sciences
Ugh, just bombed my Spanish final. This semester is not going well at all.
@clo2021 Personally, if you really enjoy the class I’d do it. It’s always nice to get a bit ahead.
@FlameAlchemist @CavsFan2003 @ anyone else who took the jeopardy! teen test - they’re sending out emails now, did any of you guys make it to the next round of auditions? i just got an email saying i did and im so freakin excited oh my goddd
@chrysalism I didn’t! Sadly. I checked on Reddit and got a 46 so I was really hoping for one but I guess not. Oh well! Good luck on your audition!! You’ll do great!!
Another class of '21 student here. I actually posted on this thread about a year ago on a different account lol but I wanted to start my account over again. I was interested a long time in traditional medicine but my guidance counselor always told me I had the mindset of an engineer. I did a little digging and I think I found the perfect career: biomedical engineering. It incorporates medical science with the problem solving and ingenuity associated with traditional engineering. As of right now I live in northern Wisconsin and I have a full time job this summer; next year I’d like to conduct research at maybe UW-Madison or another four year UW, but I don’t know if we can afford the cost (single parent household). If any of you guys know of any programs that involve any medical or biological research and offer financial aid, that would be wonderful. I just want to just get my feet wet (I hope to apply to RSI & compete in ISEF in the future) so if anyone knows of any programs like this please PLEASE let me know.
Also wanted to post my grades for first semester before I forget
Agri-Science: 96% (A)
Biology: 93% (A)
English 9: 93% (A)
Geometry: 96% (A)
Media Productions: 97% (A)
Physical Education: 97% (A)
Spanish 1: 100% (A+)
World History 9: 93% (A)
I know I could’ve done better and gotten an A+ in Geometry and Agri Science if I just would’ve studied lol. First semester I was lazy and thought I could get by without barely any studying. Finals kind of shocked me and I got it together for 2nd semester. Our end of the year grades are posted next friday and I’m feeling a lot better this semester, that’s for sure.
Wow, a lot of people here have the A+, A, A- system here… my school just does A = ≥89.5 so it’s pretty easy to keep my GPA up at least for now.
@clo2021 my school does the same!
Curious as to what writing ecs you guys could recommend. Not satisfied with the results I got back from a recent competition.
S2s almost ending, 4 A+ and 2A’s so far. I think I did well on the finals so hoping those go up too.
Anyone taking the June Bio E/M SAT subject test?
Dang, I wish our school would round equal or greater than 89% to an A. That would make life a whole lot easier
@Prunetree Right here bro! Taking it on June 2nd and super hyped it’s only 5 days away! But life is also difficult this next week cuz we have our last round of finals before school ends (Thursday)! Thankfully the whole week is early release though.
Anyways, what are you using to study? I’m using my biology notebook, The Princeton Review and some of Barrons. I’ve been scoring 750s on practice exams.
I`m using Barrons and Princeton Review and I also found a bunch of practice tests on worldwisetutoring.
Supposedly the barrons is harder then the real thing while PR is easier (at least according to upperclassmen at my school)
Finals began today, and today’s Math final was a breeze. Tomorrow I have English. Just two weeks left of school, thank God.
I did pretty good fourth quarter. (All honors classes).

@wontonandrice submit your writing to magazines (teen ink is a good one)? try more contests if the one you just did isn’t working out for you? start a school literary magazine? be on the school newspaper? write and publish a book?
Hey guys! My name is Bianca and it’s nice to meet you all. I’m not as smart as the rest of you, I’m afraid. I study at an arts boarding school- Interlochen Arts Academy- and am really hoping to do well in high school. Unfortunately, I don’t think my grades quite reflect that lol. I’m a creative writing major, 14, and international student from the Philippines.
I was wondering what sort of community CC has for the HS freshmen? Hope it’s not too late to make friends on here.

I’d like to hear any tips from you guys on how I can be a better student since I don’t think I’m doing as great as I would like. Also, I really need to take some APs lol, but my school doesn’t have a lot of that. We only have AP Calc, Stats, and I think European History. Thanks!
