Hi guys! I’m a rising sophomore just like the rest of you. This is my first post on this thread so let me know if I do anything wrong!
@thestressedcomet
Your whole schedule looks amazing to me. As far as whether to take honors band or the bio class, I would not decide solely based on which one is honors. I would decide based on what I like more and what will help me in the long run. So if you’re more into biology, definitely take that class! It sounds so interesting to me and I’m sure it will be equally as interesting to you as well if you decide to take it.
Anyway I wanted people’s opinion on my course schedule as well. So here it is (finalized):
ap world history
ap spanish language (I took a credit by exam for Spanish 3)
honors chemistry
honors algebra 2
honors English 2
honors principles of health science
ap biology
privilege period (study hall)
@itachasuke This is completely random and off-topic (though, just so you know, I am a fellow class of 2021 kid). But anyway, I really like your username and profile pic! Naruto was my first anime, so I have a ton of memories there. Itachi might just be my favorite character (except for Kakashi).
Whew–OK, off-topic post over. Carry on!
@FlameAlchemist Wow, cool! I got this picture from naruto online, a mmo game that i’m really into. Same favorite characters as you!
@FlameAlchemist Kakashi’s definitely my favorite character as well! He’s such a cool character imo and it’s amazing how his character was pulled off without him being a Gary Stu.
@itachasuke Schedule looks great.
@thestressedcomet Tbh I was in Band this year and most of my friends are in Band as well. It’s a great and fun experience for me. To be honest - if you don’t like Bio that much then I wouldn’t do the Research class - it sounds fairly Bio intensive. The real question is if you like band or not?
@thestressedcomet that sounds like a great soph schedule! I wish I had an extra slot to take AP Seminar myself, it sounds really fun. As for your extra slot - if it were me, I’d choose band. You don’t sound as if you’ve already decided to pursue a career in bio, and even if you decide to down the line, taking AP Biology later will look just as good towards that end. Band is a break from your pretty rigorous workload, and it’s a really fun experience/something you can describe as a 4-year commitment (not a band person myself, but I’m a choir gal and have had a similar experience)
@itachasuke you’ve also got a great looking schedule haha. Definitely shows rigor and a strong interest in science - just be careful not to burn yourself out!
First day of school was today. Aside from the fact that I have 20 pages of reading/notes and 30 math problems due tomorrow (thank you very much, apush ap bio and ap calc bc!), I couldn’t be happier w my schedule! I finally have good teachers and classes with my friends after 3 years of hell. Best of luck to all of you going back to school soon!
@chrysalism Wow that’s a lot of homework for the first day! My first day will be in two days and we generally have an easy day.
Had my first day today! I’m pretty excited for all of my classes except for Health. I have 46 kids in a hot class in my Health class which isn’t exciting :))
I’m super excited for AP Psych and Honors Chem. My Honors Chem teacher has been at my school for a grand total of 3 days and seems like a really fun dude. My AP Psych teacher also seems really nice and she boasts a 95% 5 rate.
School starts in two weeks for me. I’m picking up my schedule next week. I’ve been looking into some summer programs for next year and I found 7 I’m going to apply to. I still need to finish my essay but I’ve finished my other summer assignments. I start my first day of hospital volunteering on Saturday! I will be transporting the patients to and from their destinations.
Oh gosh. You guys have all been doing so much with your summers… As for me, I took Algebra 2 over the summer (the "remedial’ course) and got a solid A for both semesters. I also put in 40-50 hours per week for my job (I scout potato fields if anyone is interested). Finally, I attended our state’s FFA leadership convention and found out I was voted in to be an officer for our FFA chapter this year. I’m kind of bummed because my teachers and parents are pushing for all these ag extracurriculars, but it doesn’t fit the career path I want to take or my intended major. Oh well. School starts the Tuesday after Labor day for us and I’m getting super nervous. As of right now this is my upcoming schedule:
- P.E. (required)
- Chemistry 1
- Pre Calculus (w)
- Engineering Design
- Spanish 2
- English 10 Honors (w)
- Health 10
I have two study halls at the moment. I plan on taking a personal finance class and advanced biology to each fill up a semester period. I want to take a year long class in Physics 1 or Electrical Circuits: DC. Crossing my fingers that everything works out and these classes are scheduled for the periods that my study halls are supposed to be!
This is kinda silly and idk if any of you will like… relate to this, but I learned today my new Chem teacher is a trans man, which really excited me cause I’m a trans man too wanting to maybe go into education. I really like him, too, he’s a great teacher. I’m even more excited for this class lol
@CavsFan2003 that’s really cool! i’ve never personally had a trans teacher, but that really is amazing imo. do you want to be a teacher in the future, or something of the sort?
@scenicstars I’ve been considering it! I’m thinking of going into something along the lines of plant science and I could make a good career off of teaching it.
@CavsFan2003 Lit, those are great aspirations to strive for.
Anyone start studying for the PSAT or USABO yet? Need recommendations for PSAT studying
@destinedforND yeah! i recently started studying for the PSAT, because i’m taking that in mid-October. right now i’m pretty much just exhausting all of the pdf guides + other resources available on College Board’s website for the SAT. and i’m planning on getting the newest edition of the SAT prep black book soon because i’ve heard a lot of good things about it.
@destinedforND I’ve started studying for the SAT/PSAT (not USABO yet but I should). I use UWorld, Khan Academy, and my Barron’s book. I also have a Google Drive from other students with College Panda books on it.
@CavsFan2003 @destinedforND Are you guys studying USABO while concurrently taking AP Bio? I picked Ap Chem instead and I’m slightly regretting it now.
@wontonandrice Lol no, the only AP my school would let me take is AP Psych. I’m studying it after Honors Bio 1, that’s it. I’ll prolly take AP Bio next year.
