@stanford200381 Wow! That’s pretty early, I’m assuming that you live south to where I am? Well my school’s last day is June 16, and it starts back up again on September 4th (or somewhere around that date). 8th grade graduation is going to be chaotic. Our student government organized a movie night, and they’re going to bring the big screen out on the field… but the other school in our district is RENTING A YACHT AND PARTYING LIKE WHATTTTT
@stanford200381 Lucky, ours ends June 6th and starts up again early-to-mid-August. (There’s a shortened summer vacation this year because of a scheduling conflict but I don’t remember the exact details, rip us.) We get a class trip to a theme park and this really hyped-up graduation ceremony that we’re going to have to rehearse for almost a week, lmao.
@raventhemage god I wish our school had enough funding for a yacht party
@raventhemage I doubt I live south to where you am since I’m in Ohio.
@chrysalism Atleast you guys get a graduation! We are having an awards day for people who have all A’s or A’s and B’s.
School starts August 28th for my district but I’m going to a different school and it starts August 22nd.
Wow! You guys all get graduation ceremonies? When I was in 8th grade (last year) we just had finals on the last two days of school and the days leading up to them were spent in final review. No celebration here! lol
Ah you guys have way better celebrations than my school. Our school ends earlier: May 25. Our celebration is literally a ton of speeches and awards, and then lunch. :-??
I was hoping to take my last unstressful summer kind of easy, but now I have this chance for a summer job that pays $10 an hour. I’m kind of conflicted whether to take this job or not considering it’s Monday- Friday from 8am to 1pm. On the other hand it is pretty good money and it will allow me to help my mom pay for my education later on. I have until Friday to turn in the application, any suggestions?
Turn in the application! You can decide whether to take the job or not later.
Ours ends June 1st @stanford200381
My summer just totally changed, I’m going to Texas all summer which means I won’t be able to do any extracurriculars. Ruined my summer plans
One week of school left I’ve got a pretty packed summer- I’m working with my dad laying floor. Outside of work, I will be taking Geometry, running to train for XC, training for softball, and going to XC and softball camps. As a family, we’re going to Gatlinburg, TN, and a local state park for vacations!
That sounds fun!
I’m kind of disappointed right now because my final grade for technology is 89% but 89.5% here is an A. This is a high school course to so it will go on my transcript and get calculated into my gpa.
@stanford200381 Awwwww, that sucks! But don’t worry, I’m sure colleges won’t regard it as much, since you did take it in middle school.
My middle school happens to have final exams for social studies and math…apparently to get us used to having midterms and final exams in high school…sigh. But there’s going to be an 8th grade Hershey Park (an amusement park) trip next Wednesday!!! and we get to go wherever we want without adult supervision, I’m really excited for that.
@raventhemage yeah I know I just really wanted a 4.0.
My middle school has finals for all subjects for the same reason, we did them last week. Thats cool the only thing we are doing is going to the movies to see everything everything.
@stanford200381 I’m sure colleges will disregard a tech class in middle school.
My teacher bumped my 89% to an A! I didn’t even ask because I earned the B so I was going to keep it.
Looking at this thread makes me realize how much of a slacker I was in 8th grade and still am…
Guess I’ll just go cry in a corner
Just an irrevelant sophomore passing by.
Out of curiosity, what do you guys have as required reading over the summer? Mine are King Leopold’s Ghost and How to Read Literature Like a Professor; just started them on a long plane ride and both = fairly interesting reads.
@chrysalism we have not yet gotten our summer reading, but school ends next Friday for us! I’m so excited
@chrysalism We do not have any summer reading but we have two 60 point essays we have to write.
Also every year we have to do this math review packet that includes almost everything that we’ve learned so far in math (from kindergarten math to Geometry, in my case)
