My summer reading is Lord of the Flies and another book of our choice from a list the teacher gave us, I’ll probably choose The Great Gatsby or Tale of Two Cities. While reading we have to take 6-12 pages of notes for each and write down vocab.
We have to do a science assignment also but we will get it in July.
if you already know, may you guys list your freshman course load or what you plan/want it to be?

What are you guys doing this summer? I’m actually not doing any official summer programs as far as it goes.
@harvard2025 I’ve actually answered this question two times already in this thread, but here goes: I’m volunteering at a nearby natural history museum, and I’m taking Biology H at my district’s summer school, as well as visiting family
@harvard2025 I have a summer job and I’m going to try to apply to take summer courses but that about it.
I think I’m going to be mostly volunteering in my city. I might help out with my parent’s work but yeah.
@harvard2025 that’s great but if you can’t find anything I honestly won’t worry about it because most people say that colleges don’t really worry about your 8th grade summer.
What extracurricular activities are you guys planning to do Freshman year?
I’m going to helping at a food center, playing guitar/piano, and probably basketball ( I’m 6’ 6.5", my Highschool’s coach wants me to try out )
Wow ok I feel underaccomplished now. My summer consists of nearly nothing. I’m traveling a lot (In London currently), and then I’m taking programming courses for two weeks at the local college. Also I’m taking a physics-prep class offered by my school because I’m going to a pretty rigorous school and apparently it gets intense.
Next year: In addition to regular classes, I got permission to add on two extra electives so that I have 5 rather than three. I’m doing programming, robotics, engineering, robotics II, and drawing.
In terms of EC’s: crew, track, most likely model un, programming club, some type of volunteering club (yet to be decided), one of the school newspapers/magazines (not sure which one yet), “key club” (we give tours to applicants and stuff like that), robotics team if I’m good enough, math team if I’m good enough… I honestly don’t know what else because there’s so many options that I’m stressed. I’ll figure it out I guess haha.
This summer: taking an opera camp and a biotechnology class at DukeTIP. (Also just went to Boston for a week so that was cool)
EC’s for next year: crew, (hopefully) opera, math team, Science Olympiad and/or Academic Olympics, Mu Alpha Theta, studying for USABO, Model UN and/or Speech & Debate, whatever else I find that seems interesting.
This summer I’m working with my dad and running for XC. Not much room for anything else.
Next year, I’m doing basketball, cross country, and track. I’m also doing Robotics, Spanish Club, and Student Council.
@chrysalism one is online and and 3 are one semester lol.
I think I’m going to do the newspaper, some sort of affinity club, maybe Model UN (because I can’t decide if I want to continue), future business leaders of america, young democrats, girl code (a programming club), and hopefully the satire magazine. I may or may not start a club.
