High School classes

Do the classes taken in high school affect the classes you can take in CC?
Like for example if I took 3.5 years of English in high school instead of 4.

You usually take a matriculation test to gauge your math and english skills, which will place you in the appropriate classes at a CC. If you do well on it, it shouldn't matter how many years you took in high school. Do your best though! Don't get stuck in remedial math like me! Haha, it took me like 4 semesters to get to calculus. It sucked.

For my CC they had both English and math placement tests, which were completely ridiculous. In particular, the English prompt was a shallow write-about-yourself essay which confused anyone used to the analytical writing in the AP English courses. Also, the math placement didn't matter; they referred back to your high school math, and usually placed you in the non-transferable course by default.
