I recently submitted my application before realizing that I made a mistake in the High School Coursework section. Instead of listing my 12th-grade courses for spring as “planned” I accidentally left it as “no course”. I have emailed CSU and they told me that no changes can be made to the application and then I must email all the campuses I applied to. I have emailed CSUF, CSULB, SDSU, Cal Poly Pomona, and Cal Poly SLO, and CSUF and Cal Poly Pomona have both responded with the same overall message saying I can’t make any changes to the application. Cal Poly Pomona has also added that they will request final transcripts if I am accepted, but I am worried that I may not even qualify since I unintentionally disqualified myself via the A-G requirements. It’s an honest mistake, but I fear this mistake may cost me everything.
When you go to A-G matching on CSU App, does it show that you are missing requirements? This page: Liaison International, Centralized Application Service
Yes, but I didn’t think much of it, which I now realize was a grave mistake. I thought it would be updated as the year progressed.
Makes sense, I can understand why you might make that mistake!
Paging @Gumbymom for advice…
If the schools will not let you make any changes to your application, I would still email all the campuses with error and keep their documented response. I can tell you that Cal Poly SLO does not allow any changes to the application regarding courses.
From the Cal state apply Liaison website:
I made a mistake on my application. How can I make corrections?
After you submit your application, you can’t make any changes. Contact your campus(es) directly with any updated information. For more information, see the Updating Your Cal State Apply Applicationsection.
You have few choices as of now:
-
Wait and hopefully the campuses will reach out with a request for your Mid-year Senior transcripts so you can show you are taking these courses.
-
Get your Guidance Counselor involved and maybe they will have some pull with the campuses.
-
File an appeal after decisions are out if you are denied admission.
My friends son forgot to list Senior year English on his CSU application 2 years ago. He was local to CSULB, initially denied but filed an appeal stating it was an error with a copy of his HS transcript showing he was enrolled in the class. He had to wait 2 weeks but was eventually admitted.
Best of luck.
Thank you!
Absolutely this!
The CSU’s have regional reps that the local high school staff can reach out to. Please send an email to your counselor and request an appointment. They are really busy right now so please be patient. He/She/Them will be able to contact the staffs for advice on your situation.
