Hey guys,

I was just wondering what the general ELC (top 4% of class gpa wise) cut off was in your high school. I go to a moderately competitive high school in the Bay Area and was just wondering what other california school gpa cut offs were. I now that difficulty/grade inflation(or deflation) plays a major role but I wanted to get a general feel for what the ELC normally is.

I

At the high school I work at they ask for about the top 10% of the transcripts. The UC’s then evaluate each transcript to determine who makes ELC. It depends on the number of A-G courses taken. For this past year (class of 2010) you had to have 11 courses. Based on that they take they top 4%. Schools that gave automatic admits for ELC students this year were Davis, Santa Barbara, Riverside and Irvine.

Do they take into account the difficulty of the course load (APs Honors) or is it just over all GPA. Are there any other factors that go into ELC?
