High School Freshman in Need of Advice

Greetings, I’m new on the forums. I am 14-years old (15 in December), from Puerto Rico and am currently in the 9th grade. I’ve been looking at programs and opportunities that will improve my academic resumé. I’ve found several, but I struggle to identify which are more prestigious. I don’t mean to toot my own horn, but I was my Class Valedictorian in Middle School and am taking advanced courses this year; I consider myself an overachiever and would like to find programs that will positively complement my grades. I’m bilingual; Spanish is my main language, but I am fluent in English. I’m interested in pursuing a career in Medicine; math and science are two fields I enjoy. I am of Hispanic origin and come from a middle-class family. I’ve looked at both year-long programs (like CBYX), but I’m afraid these will set me back in my studies. Other programs I’ve evaluated include the NSLC Medicine & Healthcare, Stanford EXPLORE, Mathcamp & PROMYS. I’d love to hear all of your opinions on year-long programs vs. summer programs and attain your advice and suggestions regarding which programs I should apply to. If any of you have past experiences with these programs or others, you’d like to share I’d love to hear them. I prefer scholarships over paid programs, but am open to everything. Look forward to seeing your replies!
