Hi all!
I apologize for this post in advance, because I know I am a little late and I’m (probably) asking for something that already has been answered, but I just made an account, have little idea of how to use this website, and really want some helpful suggestions.
I have never done a summer program before (well other than a local one) and now that I’m heading off to college, I would like to do something with my summer. Sadly, I have looked everywhere for an internship, but there aren’t any for high school graduates in my city (although, if any of you have a great resource for finding internships, I’d greatly appreciate that as well). The only option I have right is continuing with my current job, which I don’t really like and want to quit, because I have been working there for way too long.
So basically, I was wondering if there are any summer programs for high school graduates that I could hopefully still apply for right now and attend over the summer. Now my family does not have any money to spend, especially with college right around the corner, but if the program looks like it’s worth it, then I could definitely think about paying for it.
It would be extremely helpful if the CC community could help me find some summer programs that are open to high school graduates (doesn’t have to be ONLY for high school graduates), and good with financial aid/merit aid, or are free, or are prestigious, or provide amazing opportunities. Anything really!
Also, my college doesn’t offer a summer program for incoming college freshmen, but I know of some other colleges that do offer these programs, usually just for their admitted students. Do any of you know about any colleges that offer programs for incoming college freshmen, regardless of what college they are going to. None of these programs have to be academic (any subject/field, but my main interest is STEM), but I’d prefer them to be.
Thank you again for taking the time to read this and help out!
