High School GPA Importance

Hi,

Will it seriously impact my Stanford admission chances if I ended up with 1 B+ in freshman year, 2 B+ in sophomore year, and 4.0 in junior year? Since Stanford leaves freshman year out of GPA calculations and does not distinguish between + and -, my failures in sophomore year are amplified.

Is this a big problem for me in terms of GPA?

Also, how are senior grades factored into the Stanford app? If they are considered, how, and what are they weighted versus sophomore and junior grades?

You consider a B+ a “failure”? Seriously? NO, two B Pluses will not hurt your chances at Stanford or any other school in the country. Relax.

D had all A’s through 11th grade. She got two B+'s in the fall of Senior year in AP classes that were clearly not in her area of strength. She took the classes because she wanted a challenge. She’s just started her sophomore year at Stanford, so no, a couple of B+ grades will not be the deciding factor in admissions.
