I have a few questions regarding high school GPAs at Stanford:

Are foreign languages considered to be academic courses?

Are Art classes factored into the Stanford GPA is they are AP/IB?

Are freshmen grades factored into the Stanford GPA at all? (ex. if I had straight B’s freshmen year and then straight A’s sophmore and junior year is my GPA 4.0?), and

How much weight is placed on honors and AP/IB courses?

Thanks. :)

It doesn't really matter what your Stanford GPA is. It does matter what your rank is like and what your transcript looks like. Foreign language classes would count as academic courses, art classes might not be, freshman year courses count less, and I don't think the Stanford GPA weight classes. It still does matter if you took AP/IB courses because those courses suggest that you are challenging yourself and will be able to succeed academically at Stanford. But the actual number itself that they calculate is meaningless. It matters how hard the classes you take are and roughly how well you do in those classes. A number won't take away from strong performance or hide poor performance.
