High School Grades Vs. Ranking? What's more important

<p>I'm applying as a transfer student and I was wondering whether high school grades are more important than high school ranking. I went to a prestigious private school in a foreign country where I managed to graduate in the Top 10%, however, my grades are not that good.</p>

<p>A 3.1 valedictorian at a prestigious school is much more credible than a 4.5 80th percentile guy from some grade-inflating public school. I say this as the guy who comes from the grade-inflating public school.</p>
