High School Grades

Hello,
I have a question regarding the significance of my 4th quarter grades of my last year of high school. I was wondering if my 4th quarter grades matter to the college that I am attending since I have already sent them my transcripts. I am particularly talking about the college level courses that I am currently taking in high school. If I have already sent them my transcripts and received credit for the class, does it matter what my 4th quarter grades look like?
Thanks for your help!

I think this would be best moved to a different part of the forum. High school grades =/= college life

Most schools don’t want to see a big drop in grades but unless you have a D or several Cs, you should be fine.

I guess what I am asking more specifically is whether I will already have a GPA as I enter college? I am wondering if the grades I achieved in the college level classes that I took already will simply count as a completion grade, or will those grades give me a pre-determined GPA before I enter college?

The general rule is “no D’s, Fs, fraud, or felonies”. If you’re 4th quarter grades meet those requirement you should be fine. You might get a warning letter if you’re grades are uncharacteristically low (if you’re usually an A student but you got all Bs or a couple of Cs) but other than that you should be fine.

Not unless you took actual courses at a junior college or university, and even then it would depend on the university you will be attending.

I took classes through my high school that were deemed “dual enrollment” or “SUNY classes”. These were offered through my high school but followed a community college curriculum.

For instance, I had dual-enrollment classes through Pitt. Had I gone to Pitt, those classes would have counted in my GPA – I would have started with a 4.0. But since I went to Penn State instead, the classes only count for credit, not grades.

Thank you! The classes I took were not through the school that I am attending so is it safe to assume that they will only be considered “credit” and not “grades”?

Might be good to see if you can find their transfer credit policy, because that is essentially what you will be doing (transferring credit from one college to another), but I think it’s pretty likely that you will not have a predetermined GPA, just a bunch of college credit.

Thanks so much!

Unless you go to a SUNY college, it is unlikely they will transfer over. Most likely it will be considered transfer credit if they are not grades from that institution.

I will be attending University at Buffalo, which is considered a SUNY institution
