The high school sent out mid-year reports to the colleges with the second qtr grades, however the GPA and class rank listed on the report was as of the end of the first qtr. The high school does not note anyplace that the GPA and rank is not updated. I guess the high school uses an outside source to caculate the GPA and rank. I called the high school and even though the qtr ended over a month ago, they still can't tell us what his final rank is.
Is any of this normal?

If I recall correctly, yes, depending on the school. Just ask the HS to push out the updated rank when it’s calculated. You may also be worrying for nothing. Some schools don’t even consider class rank.

My kids’s was going to recalculate but hadn’t when they went out. Worse, my son had a teacher mistranscribe a grade and he didn’t find out until after it went to all the colleges on his common app list that the teacher had entered a B instead of an A. The teacher said he would ‘change it right away’ yesterday, but meanwhile the schools are making decisions…sigh.

March 4th and still no ranking yet - Dealing with public schools can be so frustrating.
