high school research?

does anyone know of any research opputunities for high school students in Michigan?

bump..........

High School Honors Science Program (HSHSP). Google it.

thank you!

go to the nearest college. tell them you're interested in being part of research at a young age. they usually would love to have someone with such enthusiasm

yeah, thats a good idea...im just worried they wont take me seriously, but i guess it is worth a shot

Often times they won't. Do your homework first. Look at what profs are doing stuff you are interested in, read up on those subjects as much as possible. It is much better when you walk in saying you are interested in XYZ and you can hold a conversation about the subject matter.

You have to approach the situation very professionally. For example, if you write a letter or an e-mail to inquire about research opportunities, make sure it's well-worded, and the spelling and grammar are perfect. If you go to the school to meet the profs you'll be working with, dress nicely the first time. You don't have to wear a suit or anything like that, but business casual would be appropriate. Also, make sure you know about the college as well as the professor's area of interest. You have to show them that you are taking this seriously if you want them to take you seriously. Good luck =)
