Which schools would accept me as an engineering major? I know most schools have separate admission for engineering college, and I’m worried my gpa won’t be enough to get me in most of those.) is there any schools that would either take my scores, or that would let me declare and engineering major without a separate admission?
What state do you live in?
New Jersey. I will likely go out of state though so My options are not limited to local
Are your parents willing to pay the OOS costs? Most of the smaller OH Us would give you some merit aid and you would be accepted. Kent State, Akron, Bowling Green, Toledo, Wright, Cleveland…
Search for the “under 3.7” thread, lots of acceptances there and maybe you will find some ideas.
WVU and Clarkson are possibilities.
Case Western would be a high reach but not impossible.
Depending on the sort of engineering you’re interested in:
Mechatronics at UNC Asheville is a possible match.
Computer and information technology with Co-op at U Cincinnati is a match.
IST, Agricultural/environmental and Earth/Mineral engineering majors at Penn State are in play (look up IST, college of agriculture, college of earth&minero science).
Don’t forget Rowan though. Probably a match.
Beside grades, colleges will check curriculum rigor.
In particular:
Have you taken physics honors (or ap physics 1)?
Have you taken precalculus or Precalculus honors? Calculus or AP calculus?
Beside Physics, have you taken biology and chemistry and one more year of science (lab, non lab, CS) ? Was at least one of these at the AP level?
It won’t be just about gpa. It matters what courses you got lower grades in. How are your math and sci grades? Do you have math or sci ECs?
Lots of kids in NJ just want to leave. Don’t easily dismiss the NJ colleges.
