High School Senior Year Grades - College Admission Considerations

Hi All - please just point me to an existing thread if this already exists, but I’m curious about how and how much senior year grades are considered in college admissions. How important, how many quarters are considered, how does this vary based on Early Action/Decision vs. Regular Decision (calendar differences), whether colleges routinely ask students to submit grades (e.g. first semester) after the application is submitted, and so forth.

In my D’s case, her first quarter grades aren’t available until early November, and it’s obviously common for schools to have EA deadlines of 11/1 or even earlier.

Thanks!

Those grades should still get to the school before EA decisions are made.

For most HS, it is not likely made it before ED/EA decision as the semester is not finished. It will be considered if for RD. But even after admission, a significant drop in senior GPA may cause your acceptance rescinded.

Thanks Erin’s Dad and billscho. I’m going to bump this to the top one time since it fell off page 1 pretty quickly. Any other thoughts anyone?
