High School Student has questions about Fordham University

I just have some questions that hopefully someone can answer. I am a junior in high school right now and am very passionate about medicine. That being said, I am interested in applying to Fordham.

  1. Is there a difference between Fordham University and Fordham College at Rose Hill? If there is, where one should I apply to coming right out of high school?
  2. What should my schedule look like in order to prepare me for medical school?
  3. I am seeing all of these, post graduate, post baccalaureate programs. Will this be a part of my four years at Fordham or is this something else completely? Thank you so much! :D

Rose Hill is one campus and Lincoln Center is the other. Both have most traditional majors, but Lincoln Center has all of the arts majors (dance, theatre). Rose Hill is where science students should apply. It’s in the Bronx, beautiful campus with a lot of green space. The business school is at both campuses.

To answer your questions…

  1. Fordham College at Rose Hill is the liberal arts undergraduate school of Fordham University. That would be the best place to apply as a pre-med student. Fordham University encompasses many different schools such as the undergraduate and graduate business school, a law school etc.
  2. To prepare for a pre-med curriculum you should take science and math in HS. It would be good to take Calculus in HS (even if you re-take it at Fordham, most students have had it in HS).
  3. Don’t think about post-grad, post-bac now. That is getting too far ahead of yourself.

And one comment related @julia1611 post above that doesn’t really concern the OP. Gabelli (the b-school) is primarily at Rose Hill for undergraduates. There is a small undergraduate business program at Lincoln Center but it doesn’t include many traditional business majors so anyone applying to the LC campus should do research and be sure the majors offered are good fits.

Addition to correct/clarify answer to question #1
Fordham College at Rose Hill is one of the two liberal arts undergraduate schools at Fordham. There is also Fordham College at Lincoln Center (located in Manhattan). They are both part of Fordham University as are other schools. I believe that you can be pre-med at both campuses but Rose Hill does have more science on its campus. You should check the Fordham website.
