Is there a way to go from high school to med school? Please inform me about this. Is this basically what the B.S/M.D. programs do. I have pretty good stats so would that help in admissions to medical school as a high schooler. Thanks

No, there is no way in the US to go straight to med school from high school. The BS/MD program only means that you will get guaranteed admission to medical school as long as you get certain mcat scores and keep your gpa up to a certain level (however some schools don't require the mcats in BS/MD programs). You always have to do the B.S. Some programs are accelerated in where you complete the 8 year program in 7 or 6 years.

alot of international schools have high school straight to med school (i personally think this is better than the american system)...so if your interested in that you can go for it, but for some places, like i know india has, you have to self study premed while in high school so thats why you start med right away.

Be careful with studying abroad though if you're planning on returning to the US to work. I'm not completely familiar with the American policies, but I know that in Canada it can be extremely difficult for a foreign medical school graduate (even if they are a Canadian citizen) to get a residency, and/or practice in Canada (it depends on what country the medical school is in).

if u do med school in a different country, u have to take certain exams if you want to get a residency and practice medicine in america, and those exams are really hard to pass....my mom had to take them when she came to america and said that the test was really hard.

studyhard, are you referring to the USMLE exams? I thought that they were the same as the board exams taken by American med students. However, it is definetely harder to get a good residency when your a foreigner because of visa issues. If you are a US citizen studying at a foreign med school, I don't think it's that hard to get a US residency but getting a good one will be tougher.
