High School Transcript in UC Applications?

I've heard that you don't have to send your high school transcript when applying to transfer to UCLA, and was wondering whether that was true for all the other UCs. I haven't found anywhere on the application where it tells you to do so, and wanted to make sure.

Berkeley is requiring my high school transcript. Someone said it has something to do with verifying that you have indeed completed the foreign language requirement. I didn't realize that the college of engineering requries completion of foreign language.

TheIcon is correct on his part, but UCLA can request your official HS transcript if your major says so. For instance, UCLA requires psychology majors to send in their HS transcript if they received a "C" or better in chemistry and choose to not take it in community college.

I don't think Berkeley has any real reason for requesting your high school transcript... Erm, at least concerning the foreign language requirement, if there is one. I never mentioned taking Spanish in high school for three years, but they still asked for it. It's not like they would need it either since I'm currently finishing up the foreign language requirement at my CCC.

As for other the UC's, I have no idea.

They also have an American Institutions requirement that is satisfied through 1 year of U.S. history at High School or taking appropriate community college courses.

So do the UCs really care about your high school transcript past what you've done in the foreign language and US history reqt? Do they care about the rest of your high school transcript besides those requirements?

Actually, I believe the History requirement, at least at my CC, can only be fulfilled through AP US History with an AP score of 3 or higher. They don't take non-AP US history from HS as a fulfillment of the requirement.

I would check with your CC to find the specifications, as such there is a difference here already.

But as far as the HS transcript goes, it only applies for Language and presumably US History. They don't care about your HS transcripts otherwise. The only schools that care about it would be private schools (non-UC's).

For example, USC and Stanford, among others. U of Chicago asked me to have a meeting with my HS counselor. I don't even know my HS counselor and they didn't know me. This is all in addition to my HS transcripts... craziness.

for the foreign language, if you took it in high school and chose not to take it at CC, UCs could request you send in your HS transcript to verify that you completed the requirement in HS.

but if you did IGETC, your CC will request your HS transcripts anyway. If you are IGETC certified, all UC's (I don't think Cal counts) will take your CC's word for it and not ask for your HS transcripts to verify your language requirement.

High school transcripts should be submitted by transfer students. They will not have an effect on your transfer; we use them to see if we can save you time by looking for University requirements that can be completed by taking appropriate high school level courses.
