Ok...I've got a question...

I have like 5APs/College Courses,

is that enough for a school like Brown?

Ok...I've got a question...

I have like 5APs/College Courses,

is that enough for a school like Brown?

oh yeah, I also have a bunch of Adv. Courses along with Honors

There is really no requirement for APs or college courses. Some people get in without any college credit, because their school didn't offer APs or their families moved around a lot, etc. If you have really good stats otherwise, I would think you should be fine with only 5 APs.

awesome, my school doesn't really offer that many aps I think like 13 - 14, but most of them have like insane pre -reqs, so that you can't get them, even if you wanted to. Also, a lot of them don't really fit into my intended major...(computer science) my school doesn't offer AP Stat, Econ, or Comp. sci. so I took the science APs and the English APs...as well as the Calc BC. So you think I should be fine?

Yeah I was the same way, I had taken six AP courses in my junior and senior years out of a possible thirteen [which though I had the pre -reqs to take them all I didn't because it would be kind of pointless to take AP Studio Art for a math major], but yeah, usually rigor of courseload is based on what is available for you, so since you're school only offers a moderate amount of AP's you are definitely fine, so...

hey tony88,

thanks for the feedback, I am considering applying to Harvard for computer science, is it a strong program. Also, I was wondering if adcoms at harvard, care more about a person demonstrating interest in a particular field, rather than having a myriad of activities which aren't really focused? Also for the APs, is it alright then that I took all the pertinent APs? What about foreign language? oh yeah, I am also fluent in another lanuage, aside from english..would that help?

Hmm, sorry, I really couldn't say if I tried, I mean I'd figure they're just looking for a wide array of applicants with different talents to have a very diverse and well-rounded class, but hmmm, I guess if you've taken approx. close to half of the AP's offered then I wouldn't be really concerned about which one's they were they it's definitely good to take pertinent AP's showing that you're skilled in your major. Hmmm, and I'm sure being bilingual doesn't hurt, I mean I'm one too, though I think they are a lot more bilingual applicants then there used to be, but I'm sure it doesn't help, so... and sorry I really couldn't be too specific, but like I said I really don't know.

If you want computer science, look into Carnegie Mellon.

yeah Carnegie - Mellon is on the list, but I want to go to harvard, partially because I think I might get into law after undergrad...I love computer science, and debate; since most law schools say don't do an undergrad related to law, I thought it would be perfect to do comp. sci, undergrad and then go to law school after that...

If you want to go to Harvard Law, I wouldn't recommend going to Harvard for undergrad. Don't you want to see the world? There's more to life and higher education than just one institution.

yeah I get what you mean...what about cornell? I saw their engineering college's requirements, and they were extremely partial to math and science courses (which are all of my APs) and they don't seem to care about humanities...Unfortunately my school doesn't have AP computer science :(. I think cornell would be an awesome school to go to, with a beautiful campus and great educational opportunities. Harvard, i've heard also, runs their undergrad very slovenly, making it kinda unattractive?
