In middle school I took multiple high school classes such as biology, algebra 1, and biology. In these classes I earned a b because I did not know that these grades would affect my high school transcript. My biology grade is especially weighing it down because I took it as a standard class online, which was the only option that I believed that I had. If someone could please help me find a way to get these class off of my high school transcript it would mean the world. If it helps, my school is in Florida.
Perhaps transfer to a high school that does not calculate GPA with middle school grades. In my D’s school, high school classes taken and passed in middle school will show up on the transcript but would not be counted in GPA calculation.
Transfering is not an option for me because my school is one of the best in the county, is there a way that I can petition the school of even the school board to have it taken off?
I doubt it. If that’s the rule, why do you deserve special treatment?
Because those grades do not represent my true academic level. Right now I have a 4.2 GPA in high school and years ahead of most of my class. For example, I am going in to AP calc ab and AP physics as a sophomore. I want those classes removed so when I apply to colleges, they will see a GPA that represents my true academic level.
Why does that prove you need special treatment?
It’s not special treatment, I am looking for a way to petition the school or the school board to have the grades removed from the calculation of my GPA. And I know that it has been done before, I just need to know how to do it.
It is special treatment…why do you get to have your mistakes erased despite the rule that they go on transcripts? If I do badly my freshman year of high school, do I get to get rid of that because I wasn’t at my “full potential”? Does my first try at the SAT not count because I wasn’t at my “full potential”? Can I explain away four years’ worth of bad grades because I wasn’t at my “full potential”? Can I get a job with a 2.9 because I wasn’t at my “full potential”?
I don’t know whether you’ve heard about it being done at your school or somewhere else, but IMO… They’re classes. You took them. You got the grades you got. That was your academic potential at the time. Them’s the facts.
Regardless, good luck to you. You’re right that asking the school would be your first step. Guidance counselor, perhaps?
Colleges are not going to care about your 8th grade grades, even if they are on your transcript. But if you want to waste your time and energy, go or it.
Why are you asking people in a faceless forum how to petition YOUR school. We don’t know and can only guess. You need to start with your GC.
They were still high school classes, regardless of when you took them. You can’t just selectively remove HS classes from your HS transcript…
