My school has no history with Penn (i do not believe that anyone from my school has EVER gone there). Will this drastically affect my chances of admission?

i think only one kid from my school went there ( many years ago), so i’m in the same situation…

same here!!! i think the only famous guy that attended my school was an olympic gold medalist for like powerlifts or something that has got to do with lifting weights. he was on that one commercial where he lifted weights dropped them on the ground and it broke through the floor all the way down to the basement and hit someones car. haha ohk now i’m just rambling.
but yeah i’d like to know that too, if it would affect my chances of admissions as well?

I’m in the complete opposite position. In 2006, 5 people went to Penn, and in 2008 I know of 2 people that got accepted, and these are just the ones that I’ve heard of. On top of that, my school sends about 75% of the total number of students that get accepted to Penn in my entire state. Will this hurt me since they’re over representing my school, or will it help me since they like my school?

Yeah I doubt anyone in my school has even heard of Penn.

sghod, i think that might still give you an ok chance. where do you live?

the person who got in to Penn last yr at my school was val and had something like 2300 SATs. does NOT do ME good at all. however the girl who got in the year before had less competitive stats…makes me feel a liiiiitle better

normally i’d guess about 5-6 people apply each year. and one gets in every yr. this is what i know about the last 2 classes

I live in WV and I have decent stats (2250 SAT I, two 790s and an 800 on SAT II, but low GPA of 3.76 though I have a major upward trend and I’ve taken the hardest course load possible with 14 AP tests taken by the time I graduate).
