High School's Affect on Admission

I have two questions. One, my schools is very small and not well know (but very challenging) and I'm not sure how that will be taken my admissions, anybody with experience in this? The other questions is, do you think that having multiple (3 very qualified applicants) students apply from one school will change anything? Do they compare my school or by region?
Thanks in advance!

My child is a Pomona student, and they attended a small, rigorous, but not well known private high school. I do know they are interested in attracting more students from the Midwest. Good luck!

D was one of four students who applied from her HS (albeit it was a large HS - 1,960 students) - two ED1 and two RD. Three (both ED1 and one RD) students were accepted, and all three graduated from Pomona. I believe they will compare applicants from across the board, not by school.

Good luck!

My daughter’s school was small and not well known and as far as I know no one had gone to Pomona from there before, but she got in and this year the Pomona rep visited her HS when he was in our area.

At my kid’s school, 6 kids applied ED1 and 4 were accepted ED1. We, too, were nervous about so many qualified kids applying at the same time. I agree with @LittleMother that Admissions must’ve compared applicants across the board, but at one point Admissions also asked specific questions about my kid’s senior class schedule and indicated that they were comparing the classmate-applicants’ courses to determine which kids were taking the more rigorous courseload.

Admissions will look at you on a case-by-case basis for each student that applies. They’ll also look at your school profile to look at the context of your transcript. I had a friend who went to the other high school in my district and she got into Pomona through Questbridge, full ride. We’re a pretty low-performing district surrounded by richer schools, so they definitely look at you within the context of your school.
